POSITION SUMMARY: Distribution Center Supervisor oversees the daily operations of our distribution center. This role involves supervising a team of warehouse employees, ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of inventory, optimizing processes for operational efficiency, and maintaining a safe working environment. Supervisor must have strong leadership skills, experience in logistics or warehousing, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and lead a team of warehouse employees to ensure accurate and timely processing of orders, shipments, and returns.
- Oversee the wire / cable cutting, loading, unloading, picking and packing, kitting functions, storage of goods, and ensuring proper material handling and housekeeping.
- Ensure all operations are compliant with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with management to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and assist in the training and development of staff.
- Optimize workflows and identify areas for process improvement to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure accurate documentation of inbound and outbound shipments and maintain up-to-date records of inventory transactions.
- Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits to minimize accidents and injuries.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments, such as procurement and customer service, to ensure smooth operations.
- Address and resolve any operational issues or customer concerns related to distribution activities.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar tools for reporting and data analysis.
- Technology Utilization – Implement and manage inventory management systems (ERP, WMS) to automate processes and improve efficiency.
- Optimizing processes for safety and efficiency.
- Experience with Lean, 6S, six-sigma, project management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in business, Logistics, or related field is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse or distribution center operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures; SAP experience is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with warehouse management software is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items, as required.
