This job posting is for an existing vacancy    We’re looking for our next Senior Creative Designer. Could It Be You? We are seeking a Senior Creative Designer to serve as the creative steward and multi-disciplinary engine for The Margin. Having established our initial design language, we are now entering our next phase of growth. In this role, you will be responsible for scaling, refining, and evolving The Margin’s visual identity across web, social media, email publications, and video. You will spend approximately 25% of your time on high-level brand systemizing (building Figma design systems, motion templates, evolving brand identity, and pushing it into various content and asset forms) and 75% on hands-on asset production. You will work closely with dedicated video producers, copywriters, and social media strategists to turn editorial concepts into polished, high-performing digital experiences. Need more details? Keep reading… In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Evolving and maintaining The Margin’s standalone visual identity guidelines across all media channels.

Building, organizing, and expanding scalable design systems, UI components, and layout kits in Figma for web and digital publications.

Developing reusable motion graphics packages, lower-thirds, text animations, and video templates in After Effects to elevate post-production quality and team efficiency.

Ensuring complete visual cohesion across web, video, social, and email touchpoints.

Editing and animating 3–5 high-quality short-form videos per week (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) in collaboration with dedicated video producers. Elevate raw footage through advanced motion graphics, dynamic typography, kinetic text, and custom visual overlays.

Designing engaging web graphics, landing page layouts, digital publication templates, and UI components in Figma to support online articles, interactive media, and special editorial reports.

Producing static graphics, carousel decks, infographics, and charts that turn complex financial and market concepts into digestible, highly shareable visual assets.

Working with the editorial team to create original visual assets for specific articles and long-form content, adding to the reader experience and elevating the overall engagement level.

Creating visual assets, header designs, and editorial layouts for The Margin’s email newsletters and digital campaigns.

Partnering with the social and analytics teams to create design variations for testing, using audience performance data to refine visual hooks and engagement strategies.

So are YOU our next Senior Creative Designer? You are if you…

Have  3–5+ years of professional experience as a visual designer, brand designer, or multidisciplinary designer. Bonus if experience is within a media publication, digital editorial brand, agency, or FinTech environment.

Advanced proficiency in Figma for web design, UI layouts, digital publication design, design systems, and design component libraries.

Advanced mastery of After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

Demonstrated ability to go beyond basic video editing – possessing strong technical skills in 2D animation, motion graphics, kinetic text, and custom video templates.

A proven track record of translating complex financial, economic, or technical topics into clean, compelling, and intuitive designs.

Experience working seamlessly alongside dedicated video producers, copywriters, and growth strategists in a fast-paced publishing pipeline.

Strong ability to balance daily asset production deadlines with longer-term brand evolution projects.

Compensation Information:

Base salary range: $80,000 - $90,000

The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
