Description of the Team/Project Within Quandela, the Applications Team explores how quantum algorithms can be used to address practical problems in collaboration with industrial partners. The team works closely with the Theory and Software Development teams to turn research ideas into implementations and assess their performance on simulators and quantum processors.
The AQEFLU project (Avantage Quantique pour l’étude d’écoulement de FLUx) is a collaboration between Quandela, Safran Tech and ENSTA Paris exploring quantum computing for fluid-flow simulations in aeronautics. The internship will focus on developing and evaluating quantum algorithms for differential equations, addressing challenges such as nonlinearity, boundary conditions and initial-state preparation. The work will use simplified fluid-flow models to assess the potential and limitations of these approaches.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Review quantum algorithms for differential equations and assess their relevance to fluid dynamics.
- Participate in the development and implementation of quantum or hybrid quantum–classical algorithms.
- Investigate methods for handling nonlinearities, boundary conditions and initial-state preparation.
- Benchmark algorithms against classical reference solutions, assessing accuracy, resource requirements and scalability.
- Where feasible, test selected approaches on photonic quantum processors.
