Work Location: Los Angeles, California

Experience Level: 6+ years

Type: Full time

Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer with deep expertise in Java programming and Guidewire ClaimCenter to join our Insurance Technology practice. This role is at the forefront of a strategic initiative to modernize insurance platforms by transforming Gosu-based ClaimCenter customizations into Java.. The ideal candidate brings strong backend engineering fundamentals, hands-on Guidewire platform experience, and a forward-thinking approach to AI-augmented software development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable Java-based backend services and APIs within the Guidewire ClaimCenter ecosystem
  • Lead and execute Gosu-to-Java code transformation initiatives, using LLM productivity tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer) to accelerate and validate code conversion workflows
  • Deep-dive into Guidewire ClaimCenter configurations, rules, workflows, and integration points to understand and re-engineer Gosu customizations into maintainable Java solutions
  • Architect and develop RESTful APIs and microservices to integrate ClaimCenter with downstream/upstream enterprise systems (billing, policy, actuarial, external TPAs)
  • Collaborate with insurance business analysts, claims SMEs, and architects to gather requirements and deliver technically sound solutions aligned with claims business processes
  • Participate in architectural discussions, evaluate trade-offs between integration patterns, and contribute to technical design decisions
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior/mid-level developers on Guidewire best practices and Java engineering
  • Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability of claims platform components
  • Work effectively within Agile/Scrum methodologies, utilizing CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git) for efficient software delivery
  • Document technical designs, API specifications, and transformation guidelines for team and client knowledge transfer
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize ClaimCenter platform performance in production and non-production environments

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 6+ years of hands-on software development experience, with strong emphasis on Java (Java 8/11/17) backend development
  • Strong, demonstrable understanding of Guidewire ClaimCenter — including configuration, PCF/UI rules, business rules, workflow, integration framework (Guidewire Integration Gateway or REST APIs), and data model
  • Working knowledge of Gosu programming language — sufficient to read, interpret, and participate in Gosu-to-Java transformation efforts
  • Solid experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices using Java frameworks (Spring Boot preferred)
  • Understanding of LLM-based developer productivity tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer) and their application in code conversion, generation, and review workflows
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented principles, and clean code practices
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab), and Agile delivery methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in cross-functional, global teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Guidewire Certification (Associate or Professional level in ClaimCenter) is a strong plus
  • Experience with Guidewire Cloud (GWCP) or Guidewire InsuranceSuite cloud-native deployments
  • Familiarity with Guidewire Integration Gateway, Guidewire DataHub/InfoCenter, or Guidewire Digital portals
  • Experience with message-driven architectures (Kafka, JMS, MQ) for event-based insurance integrations
  • Knowledge of insurance claims workflows: FNOL, coverage verification, reserving, subrogation, litigation, and claim closure
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for hosting and deploying insurance platform components
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with API management platforms (MuleSoft, Apigee, AWS API Gateway)
  • Prior experience working on Gosu-to-Java migration projects is highly desirable

What is in it for you:

  • Be part of the fastest-growing AI-first digital transformation and engineering company in the world
  • Be a leader of an energetic team of highly dynamic and talented individuals
  • Exposure to working with fortune 500 companies and innovative market disruptors
  • Exposure to the latest technologies related to artificial intelligence and machine learning, data and cloud

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
