Who We're Looking For

Quantum Space is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls as the company continues to grow.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, financial statement preparation, and government contracting. This individual will oversee accounting operations, ensure compliance with SEC and SOX requirements, and strengthen financial processes and controls.

This role offers significant ownership and visibility within a fast-growing aerospace and defense organization, partnering closely with executive leadership to support strategic financial initiatives.

Where You'll Make an Impact

  • Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, revenue recognition, and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of accurate financial statements, management reports, and board reporting packages in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Lead and support SEC financial reporting requirements, including the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements, disclosures, and filings such as Forms 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Oversee compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, including the development, documentation, testing, and remediation of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Manage internal and external audit activities, including quarterly reviews, annual financial statement audits, SOX testing, and coordination with external auditors.
  • Review and oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, estimates, consolidations, and supporting financial schedules.
  • Oversee project-based accounting, including contract setup, revenue recognition, billing, labor distribution, indirect cost allocations, and financial performance against program budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with government contracting accounting requirements, including FAR, CAS, and DCAA regulations, and support government audits and incurred cost submissions.
  • Oversee contract accounting matters, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, contract assets and liabilities, estimates at completion, and indirect rate development.
  • Establish, maintain, and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead accounting system improvements, process automation, and initiatives to streamline financial reporting and shorten close cycles.
  • Build, manage, and mentor a growing accounting team while maintaining a hands-on approach to financial operations.

What It Takes

  • CPA required.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including early-stage or high-growth company experience.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP and experience managing audits.
  • Prior experience supporting government contracts and understanding of FAR/DCAA a strong plus.
  • Proficient with accounting systems and Excel; Deltek Costpoint experience preferred.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and integrity.
  • Ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level in a lean environment.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • CPA or active CPA candidate.
  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint.
  • Previous experience in the aerospace, defense, or government technology industry.
  • Experience supporting SEC filings, external audits, and SOX compliance.
  • Experience with DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, indirect rate development, and government contract compliance.
  • Experience implementing or improving ERP systems, accounting processes, and internal controls.
  • Experience in a high-growth or entrepreneurial environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
