In this role, you’ll verify software running in real-time operating system (RTOS) environments, perform hardware/software integration testing, and evaluate software artifacts against DO-178C Design Assurance Level A (DAL A) objectives. You’ll work with engineering teams to identify issues, document results, and ensure verification activities align with project requirements and standards.

Location: Remote in the United States U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

What You’ll Do

  • Independently review software plans, requirements, implementation, test artifacts, and processes for alignment with DO-178C DAL A objectives and applicable project standards.
  • Develop, review, and execute requirements-based test cases and procedures addressing high-level requirements (HLR) and low-level requirements (LLR).
  • Perform software integration testing and system-level hardware/software integration testing in embedded RTOS environments.
  • Analyze test results, investigate discrepancies, document findings, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues.
  • Review traceability between software requirements, test procedures, and verification results.
  • Learn and apply client architecture, tools, infrastructure, and engineering processes while contributing to active verification work.
  • Manage assigned tasks, communicate progress clearly, and raise technical issues or roadblocks promptly.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 4 years of relevant software engineering experience in avionics or embedded electronic controls within a safety- or mission-critical environment.
  • Experience developing software to DO-178C standards.
  • Experience developing an RTOS or embedded software that runs on an RTOS, with a working understanding of RTOS concepts.
  • Experience with C and Python.
  • Hands-on integration and test experience at both the system level, including hardware/software integration, and the software level, including testing against high- and low-level requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Software Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience developing software to DO-178C DAL A standards.
  • Experience with ARM processors and associated system-on-chip (SoC) features.
  • Experience with multicore embedded systems, asymmetric multiprocessing, or debugging complex SoC architectures.
  • Experience developing device drivers or board support packages (BSPs).
  • Familiarity with data transfer interfaces and protocols such as ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, and PCIe.
  • Experience with boundary value analysis (BVA), structural coverage analysis (SCA), and data and control coupling analysis (DCCA).
  • Experience with DO-330 tool qualification.
  • Familiarity with security concepts, including authentication, authorization, and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including active listening, independent task management, and the ability to adapt to new projects and engineering environments.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
