The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Junior Software Engineer (React) based in the United States.

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will help build and maintain user-friendly software applications that support organizations delivering essential healthcare and human services. You will focus on developing responsive, accessible React interfaces supported by .NET Core APIs and SQL Server databases. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will contribute to feature development, bug fixes, and continuous improvements across the full software stack. This role offers hands-on experience with modern frontend technologies, application architecture, and the software development lifecycle. You will receive guidance from experienced colleagues while progressively developing your technical expertise and taking ownership of more complex tasks. Your contributions will help improve the reliability and usability of technology that organizations depend on to serve their communities. You will thrive in a collaborative environment that values continuous learning, code quality, data security, and meaningful impact.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop, test, and deliver well-defined features and bug fixes, with a primary focus on building responsive, accessible, and maintainable React user interfaces.
  • Implement reusable React components using hooks, component composition, and effective state and props management.
  • Integrate frontend applications with .NET Core APIs and SQL Server databases to ensure reliable communication and data flow across application layers.
  • Follow established development practices for code quality, testing, source control, and deployment workflows, seeking guidance from experienced engineers when needed.
  • Take responsibility for delivered features by identifying and resolving bugs, regressions, and usability issues, and addressing questions related to implementation and performance.
  • Participate in pull request reviews and technical discussions, provide constructive feedback, ask thoughtful questions, and communicate blockers early.
  • Apply established privacy and security practices when handling protected health information (PHI) and other sensitive customer data, using mocked or anonymized data during development and testing, including when working with AI-assisted tools.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the products, customers, and healthcare and human services sector while gradually taking greater ownership of feature design, implementation, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and QA teams to deliver dependable software that meets user needs and maintains high standards of accessibility and reliability.
  • 1–3 years of software development experience acquired through professional employment, internships, academic work, or personal projects.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience or certifications.
  • Working knowledge of React, including hooks, component composition, and state and props management.
  • Solid JavaScript skills and experience with HTML and CSS, including the development of responsive and accessible user interfaces.
  • Some experience with C# and familiarity with state management tools such as Redux or React Query.
  • A foundational understanding of full-stack application development and how frontend, backend, and database layers communicate.
  • Basic knowledge of data structures, algorithms, source code management tools such as Git, and deployment processes.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to a software feature or project, with the ability to clearly explain individual responsibilities and contributions.
  • Strong ownership, accountability, and attention to code quality, usability, maintainability, and application reliability.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, including openness to constructive feedback, a willingness to ask questions, and the ability to seek support when facing challenges.
  • An understanding of the responsibilities involved in developing healthcare software and the importance of protecting PHI and other confidential customer information.
  • Familiarity with Fluent UI or similar component libraries.
  • Experience with frontend testing tools such as Jest or React Testing Library.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar technologies.
  • Experience building or consuming REST APIs, particularly with .NET Core.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.
  • Competitive annual salary: $75,000–$95,000, depending on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and other relevant factors.
  • Remote work flexibility: The opportunity to work remotely within the United States.
  • Unlimited paid time off: An unlimited PTO policy to support work-life balance.
  • Healthcare coverage: Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with employer matching.
  • Paid holidays: Dedicated time off for holidays throughout the year.
  • Volunteer time off: Paid time to participate in volunteer activities and support communities.
  • Paid parental leave: Support for employees and their families during important life events.
  • Remote work stipend: Financial support for remote working needs.
  • Professional development: Hands-on experience with React, JavaScript, .NET Core, SQL Server, frontend testing, accessibility, and secure software development.
  • Collaborative work environment: Opportunities to learn from experienced engineers and work closely with product and QA teams.
  • Meaningful work: The chance to contribute to software that helps healthcare and human services organizations deliver essential services to individuals and communities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
