The posting

Title: Senior Product Designer — Enterprise Security Platform Location: Remote — United States; preference given to San Francisco Bay Area candidates Reports to: VP of Product & Design Focus: Approximately 80% Product Design / 20% Brand & Marketing Design Eligibility: U.S. citizenship is required due to the role’s support of federal government projects.

About RapidFort

RapidFort is a software supply chain security platform. We help enterprises understand what's running in their software, reduce vulnerability risk, and ship curated, near-zero-CVE container images, backed by runtime-informed analysis and automated attack surface reduction.

Our users include security teams, platform engineers, developers, administrators, and enterprise leaders. We're Series A, with $42M raised, and we're a small, senior team moving quickly.

The role

This is a product-first design role.

You'll own major parts of the RapidFort platform and work directly with Product and Engineering from early problem definition through shipped software.

The problems are genuinely complex: thousands of vulnerabilities across images, clusters, and workloads; relationships between software artifacts; policies, permissions, and enterprise environments; and very different technical users with very different needs.

We want someone who enjoys that complexity.

You should be equally comfortable thinking about the overall system and getting into the details of how a table, filter, workflow, visualization, or interaction should behave.

About 80% of your time will focus on product. The other 20% will help keep our website, launches, sales materials, and broader brand consistent with the product, in partnership with Marketing and external specialists.

You'll start as a hands-on IC and the senior design voice at RapidFort. You'll help establish how design operates: how we frame problems, review work, collaborate with Engineering, use research and data, and decide what good looks like.

As the company and design function grow, there is a clear opportunity to help build and lead the team.

What you'll do

Own complex product experiences

  • Design end-to-end workflows across the platform, from understanding risk to remediation, governance, and reporting.
  • Redesign data-dense experiences such as vulnerability lists, image and workload inventories, cluster views, risk summaries, and operational dashboards.
  • Make large datasets easier to navigate through strong use of tables, filters, search, comparison, hierarchy, visualization, and drill-down.
  • Define information architecture and interaction models that allow the platform to grow coherently instead of accumulating disconnected features.
  • Solve enterprise platform problems including roles and permissions, organizations and environments, policies, onboarding, audit, reporting, and administration.
  • Design for security practitioners, developers, platform engineers, administrators, and executives without reducing every workflow to the same experience.
  • Think in systems, not screens.

Work from problem to shipped product

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to shape problems before jumping to solutions.
  • Challenge assumptions and requirements when there is a simpler or better way to solve the customer problem.
  • Move quickly from rough flows and concepts to prototypes, detailed interaction design, and production-ready UI.
  • Test ideas early rather than waiting until they are polished.
  • Join customer conversations, usability sessions, and product discovery.
  • Use qualitative feedback, product analytics, and behavioral data to guide decisions.
  • Stay involved through implementation and own the quality of what ships.

Build the design system

  • Evolve our components, patterns, and interaction standards across navigation, data presentation, states, feedback, and enterprise workflows.
  • Create systems that improve consistency without slowing down a fast-moving engineering team.
  • Help Engineering reuse patterns rather than redesigning the same interaction repeatedly.
  • Raise the quality bar while keeping the system pragmatic.

Use AI in the design process and product

  • Use AI tools as a normal part of your workflow for research, exploration, prototyping, content, and iteration.
  • Use modern prototyping and development tools to move quickly from an idea to something people can interact with.
  • Help define how AI and agent-driven workflows should appear inside RapidFort.
  • Develop a strong point of view on where AI genuinely improves a workflow and where traditional interaction patterns remain better.
  • Experiment aggressively without lowering the bar for accuracy, usability, or craft.

Support brand and marketing (~20%)

This is not a marketing design role, but we want the product and company to feel like one coherent system.

  • Partner with Marketing on key website experiences, launches, and campaigns.
  • Turn complex technical concepts into clear diagrams, visuals, and product stories.
  • Maintain consistency across the product, website, presentations, and sales materials.
  • Direct external agencies, contractors, or specialists when we need additional capacity.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of product design experience, with deep experience in complex B2B, enterprise, platform, developer, infrastructure, data, or operational products.
  • A portfolio of shipped product work, especially complex workflows and data-dense interfaces, not only visual concepts or marketing sites.
  • Strong systems thinking. You naturally see how users, objects, permissions, workflows, navigation, and data fit together.
  • Excellent interaction design, information architecture, UX, and visual design craft.
  • Experience designing products where users need to understand and act on large amounts of information.
  • Ability to simplify technically complex concepts without removing details that matter.
  • Strong product judgment and the confidence to push back when a requirement does not solve the underlying problem.
  • Experience working directly and iteratively with Product Managers and Engineers.
  • Ability to operate independently without requiring a large design organization or highly detailed requirements around you.
  • Advanced Figma skills, including components, variables, design systems, responsive layouts, and prototypes.
  • Practical, regular use of modern AI tools in your design process.
  • Clear, direct written and verbal communication.

Especially valuable

  • Cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, observability, developer tools, or developer platform experience.
  • Container security, Kubernetes, vulnerability management, or software supply chain security experience.
  • Experience designing RBAC, policy, governance, compliance, audit, administration, or multi-tenant systems.
  • Experience with products that expose large, complex, or highly interconnected datasets.
  • Shipped AI-native or agent-driven product experiences.
  • Prototyping with tools such as Cursor, v0, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools.
  • Experience mentoring designers, directing agencies, or acting as the senior design voice in a small organization.
  • Experience using product analytics to evaluate and improve product experiences.

What we're not looking for

This isn't primarily a web, graphic, or production design role.

Your core strength should be designing complex software products. We expect you to bring that same craft and judgment to important brand and marketing work when needed.

We care about polish, but we care even more about product judgment, systems thinking, interaction quality, and whether the experience actually works.

How we work

  • Strong opinions, low ego.
  • Create momentum from ambiguity instead of waiting for perfect requirements.
  • Show work early and iterate quickly.
  • Care about the details without losing sight of the system.
  • Work with Engineering, not over the wall.
  • Know when something needs more exploration and when it is good enough to ship.
  • Use new tools aggressively without lowering the quality bar.
  • Own outcomes, not just deliverables.

What success looks like

First 90 days: You have a strong understanding of the product, customers, and core workflows. You've shipped meaningful improvements to important product experiences and established trust with Product and Engineering.

Six months: The platform feels more coherent, our design system and interaction patterns are speeding up delivery, and Design is no longer a bottleneck. You are helping define how the design function should grow.

12 months: Complex security and infrastructure data is easier to navigate and act on. New capabilities fit naturally into the broader platform. AI is part of how we design and increasingly part of what we ship. RapidFort has a recognizable level of design quality across product, website, and company without losing startup speed.

Why join

You'll have unusual influence over both the product and the design function.

You'll work on complex enterprise problems where better design materially changes how customers understand risk and make decisions.

You'll work directly with Product and Engineering, ship quickly, and help define what great design means at RapidFort as the company grows.

To apply, include a portfolio link.

A walkthrough of one complex, data-heavy product you helped take from problem to shipped experience tells us more than ten polished shots.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
