We are committed to our core value of “Empathy,” aiming to automate demanding, dirty, and dangerous jobs and create a society where people can engage in more intellectual and creative work. By developing and supporting the implementation and operation of robotics platforms and robot solutions utilizing the world’s most advanced control and coordination technologies, we strive to realize this vision.

In this position, you will be working with our mechatronics teams in Tokyo to design, validate, and support the electronics of our ASRS product (robots, elevators, battery exchange cabinets, and Guardian) and of our AMR products. You will be our senior electronics engineer on the ground in Japan, where our prototypes, manufacturing partners, test lab, and customer sites are, working with our engineers in India and China. The role is hands-on first: much of your time is at the bench, with partners, and on-site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and own PCBAs for the robot, elevator, battery exchange cabinet and Guardian: schematics, layout review, BOM and release documents.
  • Assemble, rework, bring up and validate prototypes in Tokyo: power, ESD/EMC pre-tests, thermal and functional tests, with written test reports.
  • Support Japanese manufacturing partners and supply chain: design handover, inspection and test fixtures, first-article checks, alternatives for end-of-life or long-lead parts.
  • Be our escalation engineer in Japan for electronics issues at Japanese customer sites: analyse boards returned from the field, lead root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions with the designer or the manufacturer to closure.
  • Design, build and maintain test jigs and fixtures for production and field returns.
  • Contribute to the next-generation robot electronics (motor control, power, battery) together with our engineering teams in India and China, and review their designs for manufacturability and field reliability.
  • Depending on the team you join: electronics and electrical work on our AMR, autonomous forklift (AFL) and ASRS elevator, including wiring, harnesses and power distribution.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years designing electronic hardware that went to mass production, in robotics, automotive, industrial automation or similar.
  • Solid analog, digital and power design: DC/DC conversion, battery and charging circuits, BLDC/PMSM motor drive, protection (ESD, surge, reverse polarity).
  • Microcontroller-based designs and interfaces: GPIO, PWM, ADC, I2C, SPI, UART, CAN.
  • Schematic and layout tools (KiCad, Altium Designer or equivalent), oscilloscope, logic analyzer, electronic load, soldering and rework.
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Business-level English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EMC/ESD design and pre-compliance testing (IEC 61000-4-2, CE, FCC).
  • Design transfer to contract manufacturers (DFM, DFT, test fixtures); lithium-ion battery pack or BMS experience.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
