Inspired by her own childhood struggles with eczema and years of hands-on experience treating high-profile and everyday clients, she opened her flagship medical spa in West Hollywood to combine medical science with luxury skin treatments.

Role overview

As a Freelance Beauty Advisor, you represent Kate Somerville in Ulta Beauty stores during events, blitz days, and coverage shifts. Your two most important goals on every shift are to meet or exceed your sales goal and to give every client an exceptional customer experience. You'll educate Ulta guests on our clinical skincare, recommend the right regimen for their skin, and help build excitement for the brand in your territory.

Freelance shifts are booked as needed, with most work centered on peak retail days, including weekends, key events, and launches.

Key responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed the sales goal for every booked shift by actively engaging clients and promoting Kate Somerville products.
  • Deliver great customer service: greet every client warmly, listen to their skin concerns, and make sure they leave feeling cared for.
  • Provide skin consultations and product demonstrations, recommending regimens matched to each client's skin concerns.
  • Stay current on the product line, launches, and in-store promotions; complete all required brand training before your first shift.
  • Support in-store events, blitzes, and launches, including setup, sampling, and breakdown.
  • Keep testers and displays neat and up to brand standards during your shift.
  • Partner with store beauty associates and management to support Kate Somerville sales.
  • Submit a shift recap after every booking, including sales, units, top sellers, and client feedback.

Booking and availability

  • You must be available Thursday through Sunday, when most events, blitzes, and coverage shifts take place.
  • Shifts are offered by event or by week, typically 5–30 hours per week depending on store locations and availability.

Requirements

  • Must be well-versed in prestige skincare, including ingredients, skin concerns, and how to build a regimen.
  • Experience in beauty retail, skincare sales, or a cosmetics counter preferred.
  • Comfortable engaging clients, giving skin consultations, and closing sales.
  • Able to stand for an entire shift and travel to assigned doors in your territory.
  • Reliable transportation and a smartphone for shift recaps.
  • Completion of Kate Somerville product training before your first booking.

What success looks like

  • You consistently meet or exceed the sales goal for every booked shift.
  • You deliver great customer service: every client feels welcomed, listened to, and leaves with a regimen that fits their skin.
  • You recommend add-ons and build full regimens, not single products.
  • You arrive on time and submit a recap after every shift.
  • Store teams see you as a knowledgeable, reliable brand partner and ask for you back.
