The posting

We are hiring under Recruit Express headcount and you will be deployed to:

Location: Central Contract Duration: 3 Months (Renewable) Working Days: 5 Days/Week Working Hours: Day Shifts Only (No Night Shifts!)

Shift Timings (Based on Roster):

  • 6:30am – 2:30pm | 7:30am – 3:30pm | 8:30am – 4:30pm | 10:00am – 6:00pm

About the role

This role involves providing nursing care in a Day Surgery Ward and Operating Theatre setting, supporting patients undergoing eye procedures and assisting with ophthalmic surgical operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide basic pre-operative and post-operative nursing care to patients undergoing eye procedures
  • Assist with ophthalmic procedures such as eye dressing, eye drop administration and blood glucose monitoring
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and promptly report any changes in their condition
  • Assist patients with changing, preparation for surgery and transfers to and from the Operating Theatre
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient education, including discharge instructions to patients and caregivers
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety and proper inventory of medical supplies within the ward
  • Perform scrub, circulating, anaesthetic support and recovery room nursing duties
  • Prepare surgical instruments, equipment and consumables according to surgical requirements
  • Monitor patients' conditions and maintain accurate clinical documentation
  • Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and the nursing team to ensure smooth surgical operations

Requirements:

  • Recognised Nursing qualification (NITEC / Diploma in Nursing or equivalent)
  • Must hold valid registration with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB)
  • Enrolled Nurses and Staff Nurses are welcome to apply, subject to appropriate role assignments
  • 1–2 years of relevant clinical or Operating Theatre experience preferred
  • Prior experience in ophthalmology, day surgery or perioperative nursing would be advantageous
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Comfortable with rotating day shifts, early reporting times and occasional overtime
  • Able to commit to a minimum of 3 months
