The posting

A global life sciences organisation is seeking a Senior Buyer to secure the supply of critical direct materials. You will own supplier relationships and purchasing execution to keep production and customer commitments on track.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage end-to-end purchasing of direct materials and components, from requisition to delivery
  • Place and follow up purchase orders to ensure materials arrive on time and in full
  • Monitor inventory levels, demand forecasts and open orders to prevent supply shortages
  • Work closely with planners, production, quality and engineering teams to resolve supply issues
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manage supplier performance
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times and terms to achieve cost and service targets
  • Identify supply risks early and develop mitigation and alternative sourcing plans
  • Support new product introductions, supplier qualification and onboarding
  • Drive continuous improvement in purchasing processes and cost savings
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data and reports in the ERP system

What You'll Bring

  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related field and above
  • At least 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience, ideally in direct materials
  • Experience in life sciences, medical devices, electronics or manufacturing is an advantage
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP system such as SAP
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
