The posting

A global engineering group is looking for a Vehicle IT Engineer to oversee the integration of onboard IT and network systems on rail vehicles. You will act as the technical owner supervising system integrators and vendors to make sure everything is delivered to standard.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as the primary technical owner overseeing system integrator design, configuration and integration work
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables including network architecture, capacity calculations and layouts
  • Supervise physical installations so wiring and mounting match approved designs and safety clearances
  • Audit onboard hardware compliance against rolling stock and telecom standards
  • Oversee deployment of edge computers, firewalls, VPN, managed switches and industrial 5G routers
  • Supervise control-centre backend setup and validate high-availability storage and gateways
  • Manage configuration and stability of onboard wireless links and network integration
  • Direct integration of onboard control system telemetry data
  • Coordinate with vendors and partners on schedules and technical issues
  • Prepare technical reports and support testing and commissioning

What You'll Bring

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline and above
  • Experience in technical project management, system integration or railway engineering
  • Working knowledge of networking, wireless and IT infrastructure
  • Ability to review engineering drawings and vendor deliverables
  • Strong supervisory and vendor-management skills
  • Clear communication and documentation skills
  • Detail-oriented and structured in approach
  • You do not need to be a deep IT specialist, but need enough IT knowledge to verify vendor work
