  • Understanding of satellite bus subsystems and their interfaces.

About the Role

We are seeking a Platform Systems Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer to verify and validate satellite bus systems, ensuring that core infrastructure subsystems operate correctly and are ready to support spacecraft payloads.

This role focuses on the functional verification of essential satellite platform systems, including electrical power, thermal control, propulsion, and attitude control. You will test subsystem performance, validate interfaces, and ensure systems respond correctly to onboard flight software.

The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience in system verification, automated testing, and satellite platform technologies, helping ensure reliable satellite bus performance in support of mission operations.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a hands-on systems verification and validation engineer with experience testing complex aerospace systems, developing automated test scripts, and troubleshooting subsystem interfaces.

The ideal candidate understands satellite platform architectures and can verify subsystem functionality, simulate operating conditions, validate communications between systems, and identify issues before spacecraft deployment.

Strong candidates will combine technical knowledge of satellite subsystems with practical testing and automation skills, analytical problem-solving, and the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Satellite Bus Subsystem Verification

  • Test and validate critical satellite platform subsystems, including:
  • Attitude Determination and Control Systems (ADCS) Electrical Power Subsystems (EPS) Thermal Control Systems (TCS) Propulsion systems
  • Verify that platform subsystems function according to system requirements.
  • Evaluate subsystem performance and identify issues that could affect spacecraft operations.
  • Support verification activities to ensure satellite bus readiness for payload integration.

Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Testing

  • Use Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testbeds to simulate orbital dynamics and sensor inputs.
  • Simulate inputs from spacecraft sensors, including:
  • Star trackers GPS Sun sensors
  • Verify ADCS functionality and pointing accuracy under simulated operating conditions.
  • Analyze test results and troubleshoot unexpected subsystem behavior.

Power & Harness Validation

  • Perform spacecraft power budget verification.
  • Conduct battery charge and discharge cycle testing.
  • Support Solar Array Simulator (SAS) integration.
  • Validate electrical power subsystem behavior under relevant operating conditions.
  • Identify power-related issues and support troubleshooting during verification activities.

Flight Software Integration & Testing

  • Verify the interaction between satellite platform hardware and onboard flight software.
  • Test command routing and telemetry packet generation.
  • Validate Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) loops.
  • Confirm that platform subsystems respond correctly to software commands and simulated fault conditions.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues involving hardware, software, and subsystem behavior.

Subsystem Interface Verification

  • Verify physical, data, and electrical interfaces between satellite platform subsystems.
  • Validate communication and data exchange using protocols such as:
  • CAN SpaceWire RS-422
  • Identify and troubleshoot interface compatibility issues.
  • Confirm that subsystem interfaces operate according to applicable requirements and specifications.

Automated Testing & Technical Analysis

  • Develop automated test scripts using Python or MATLAB.
  • Automate test equipment and simulated sensor inputs, including power supplies and electronic loads.
  • Execute repeatable verification procedures and analyze test results.
  • Document test findings and support the investigation of subsystem anomalies.
  • Help improve testing efficiency, repeatability, and reliability.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience verifying aerospace subsystems, embedded robotics, or satellite platform architectures.
  • Strong technical knowledge in one or more of the following:
  • Power electronics Orbital mechanics Thermal management Control systems
  • Experience developing automated test scripts using Python or MATLAB.
  • Experience automating or controlling test equipment, including power supplies and electronic loads.
  • Familiarity with simulated sensor inputs and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Familiarity with space-industry data protocols and avionics testing architectures.
  • Understanding of satellite bus subsystems and system interfaces.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with satellite platform systems and spacecraft bus architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with ADCS, EPS, thermal control, or propulsion subsystem verification.
  • Experience with HIL testbeds and simulated orbital dynamics.
  • Experience with battery charge/discharge testing and Solar Array Simulator integration.
  • Experience testing flight software command routing, telemetry, and FDIR functionality.
  • Familiarity with CAN, SpaceWire, and RS-422 communication protocols.
  • Experience developing automated verification procedures for complex aerospace systems.

Ideal Candidate Profiles

Candidates with experience in the following roles are encouraged to apply:

  • Platform Systems Verification and Validation Engineer
  • Satellite Systems V&V Engineer
  • Satellite Systems Integration and Test Engineer
  • Aerospace Verification Engineer
  • Spacecraft Systems Test Engineer
  • Embedded Systems Validation Engineer
  • Satellite Platform Test Engineer
  • Avionics Verification Engineer

Candidates with hands-on satellite subsystem testing, automated test development, and spacecraft interface verification experience are especially encouraged to apply.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
