The posting

We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Lead Software Engineer to join our development team at Red Airship.

In this role, you will lead the technical delivery of projects, serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, and ensure your team consistently delivers high-quality solutions. You will bring both strategic thinking and hands-on technical expertise, working closely with clients to understand their business objectives, manage expectations, navigate scope and technical trade-offs, and translate requirements into clear, actionable technical plans.

As a hands-on technical leader, you will balance client engagement, team leadership, and active development across the full stack, including frontend, backend, APIs, security, and deployment.

At Red Airship, we take pride in delivering exceptional engineering and user experiences. Our engineering standards and delivery practices reflect this commitment, and we continuously refine how we work. You will play a key role in upholding these standards by setting technical direction, guiding architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and taking ownership of the quality and reliability of everything your team delivers.

Beyond technical leadership, you will foster a collaborative and accountable team culture built on open communication, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback.

AI-assisted development is integral to how we work. We expect you to be highly proficient in leveraging AI development tools to improve engineering productivity and quality, while maintaining strong technical judgment and accountability. You will guide your team in adopting AI-assisted workflows responsibly, ensuring that AI-generated code is properly understood, critically reviewed, and aligned with sound engineering principles.

You will also have opportunities to design and build AI-powered solutions for our clients, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, AI agents, and integrations with enterprise systems. As part of the role, you will be expected to pursue the Anthropic Claude Certified Architect – Foundations certification to further strengthen your expertise in AI architecture and development.

Eligibility Requirement

Due to project-specific requirements and client security clearance obligations, this position is open to Singapore Citizens only.

Requirements

Key Responsibilties

  • Take ownership of the technical delivery of projects, from early discovery and solution design through development, deployment, and continuous improvement in production. Ensure projects are delivered to a high standard while meeting business objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Establish and uphold high engineering standards through clean, maintainable code, test-driven development (TDD), pair programming, sound design patterns, and effective code reviews. Coach your team to consistently apply these practices.
  • Lead the purposeful adoption of AI across the software development lifecycle to improve productivity, engineering quality, and the solutions we deliver. Establish effective AI-assisted development practices while ensuring developers maintain a strong understanding of and accountability for the code they produce.
  • Translate client requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions. Make informed architectural and technology decisions, balancing business goals, existing systems, technical constraints, budgets, and delivery timelines.
  • Continue contributing actively to the codebase alongside your team, particularly in technically complex or high-risk areas. Lead by example through strong engineering practices and practical problem-solving.
  • Champion continuous integration, automated testing, and continuous delivery practices to release reliable, high-quality software and deliver value to end users early and frequently.
  • Integrate security, automation, and DevSecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle. Promote shared ownership of software quality, security, deployment, and operational reliability.
  • Work closely with designers, consultants, project managers, and developers to translate ideas into functional features, interactive prototypes, and production-ready solutions, ensuring technical quality and alignment with UX requirements.
  • Mentor engineers through coaching, pair programming, knowledge sharing, and constructive two-way feedback. Foster a collaborative environment where team members feel comfortable asking questions, challenging assumptions, experimenting, and continuously improving.

Required Skills and Experience

Technical Skills

  • At least 5 years of professional software development experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a technical lead or team lead capacity.
  • Strong hands-on experience in full stack development, particularly with TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and NestJS.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, API design, data modelling, relational database design, and software architecture.
  • Proven experience leading software development teams using Agile, Lean, and continuous delivery practices, with responsibility for technical planning, mentoring engineers, resolving blockers, and delivering projects successfully.
  • Strong understanding of engineering practices such as test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration, pair programming, code reviews, and infrastructure automation.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, and application deployment on major cloud platforms.
  • Practical experience evaluating and adopting emerging AI technologies, with a clear understanding of their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate use cases.
  • A continuous learning mindset, with an interest in exploring areas such as functional programming, event-driven architecture, platform engineering, and emerging technologies.

Professional and Leadership Skills

  • Communicate confidently with clients, project managers, designers, and other stakeholders. Translate business objectives into actionable technical requirements, explain technical trade-offs clearly, and constructively challenge assumptions or requirements when necessary.
  • Define and execute a clear technical direction aligned with business outcomes. Make pragmatic decisions, navigate ambiguity, and balance engineering excellence with delivery constraints.
  • Guide, support, and develop engineers through hands-on technical leadership, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback. Inspire accountability, collaboration, and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with AI and agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar platforms, with practical examples of measurable improvements in development productivity and effectiveness. Be able to critically evaluate AI-generated code and guide the team in using these tools responsibly.
  • Have hands-on experience designing, building, or integrating AI-powered solutions, such as MCP servers, AI agents, or applications using large language models (LLMs). Understand the considerations involved in building reliable, secure, cost-effective, privacy-conscious, and scalable AI systems.

Technology Stack

Our technology stack varies depending on project requirements, but the tools and technologies you can expect to work with include:

  • Languages and frameworks: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Express.js, NestJS, and Python
  • Monorepo management: Nx
  • Databases: Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), PostgreSQL, and other relational databases

  • Development and DevOps: Git, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, PM2, JetBrains IDEs
  • Collaboration: Figma, ClickUp, Jira, Slack
  • Cloud infrastructure: Primarily AWS and Cloudflare

Work Arrangement

Depending on project requirements and client needs, you may be required to work onsite at the Red Airship office or a client's premises 4–5 days per week.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
