POSITION OVERVIEW / DESCRIPCIÓN DEL PUESTO:

The Boston Red Sox are seeking a Scouting Assistant to help cover the Dominican Republic territory. In this role, the Scouting Assistant will capture video from players across the country, operate baseball technologies, and collect data on players. The Scouting Assistant will also help evaluate potential prospects and assist with additional assignments/coverages as assigned by immediate supervisors.

Candidates must reside in the Dominican Republic year-round to be considered.

Los Boston Red Sox están buscando un Asistente de Escouteo para apoyar la cobertura del territorio de la República Dominicana. En este rol, el Asistente de Escouteo será responsable de grabar videos de jugadores en todo el país, manejar tecnologías de béisbol y recopilar datos sobre los jugadores. También participará en la evaluación de posibles prospectos y colaborará en tareas adicionales o coberturas asignadas por sus supervisores inmediatos.

Los candidatos deben residir en la República Dominicana durante todo el año para ser considerados.

RESPONSIBILITIES/RESPONSABILIDADES:

  • Collect video on assigned players and showcases aligned with organizational standards and within internal systems.
  • Setup, record, and upload data via specified technologies (Trackman, bat sensors, etc).
  • Provide updates to supervisors on players in the Dominican Republic.
  • Assist appropriate staff with physical testing and assessments as assigned.
  • Develop a working knowledge of emerging and new technologies as well as how to apply to your role in the future.
  • Observe best practices amongst similar roles around the industry and provide feedback on how role can improve.

  • Apoyar al personal correspondiente en pruebas físicas y evaluaciones según se le asigne.
  • Desarrollar un conocimiento práctico de nuevas y emergentes tecnologías, así como de su aplicación a su rol en el futuro.
  • Observar las mejores prácticas en roles similares dentro de la industria y aportar retroalimentación sobre cómo se puede mejorar el puesto.

COMPETENCIES/COMPETENCIAS:

  • High level of work ethic, honesty, and desire to learn
  • Familiarity with necessary hardware, tools, technology and equipment to conduct player evaluations.
  • Able to collect and utilize the information necessary to complete a full scouting process.
  • Strong ability to build relationships, communicate effectively, and connect with players, coaches, agents, and trainers from varying backgrounds.
  • An understanding of the landscape, market and context of the Dominican Republic and International scouting.
  • Alto nivel de ética de trabajo, honestidad y deseo de aprender.
  • Familiaridad con el equipo, las herramientas, la tecnología y el material necesarios para realizar evaluaciones de jugadores.
  • Capacidad para recopilar y utilizar la información necesaria para completar un proceso de escouteo completo.

  • Conocimiento del panorama, el mercado y el contexto de la República Dominicana y del escouteo internacional.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/CUALIFICACIONES ADICIONALES:

  • Must have a Driver’s License valid in the assigned area.
  • Must have regular access to a car in the assigned area.
  • Submit expenses in a timely manner per the policies set forth by the Boston Red Sox.
  • Be cognizant of International Scouting policies as dictated by MLB, make sure you are compliant with rules set forth by MLB and the Boston Red Sox.
  • Help in coordination of Red Sox tryouts as needed.
  • Submit reports into Red Sox system as assigned by supervisors.
  • Be available to work on weekends, nights, and on multiple-day trips as needed
  • Debe tener una licencia de conducir válida en el área asignada.

  • Colaborar en la coordinación de los tryouts de los Red Sox según sea necesario.
  • Entregar los reportes en el sistema de los Red Sox según las indicaciones de los supervisores.
  • Estar disponible para trabajar fines de semana, noches y en viajes de varios días cuando sea necesario.
