Overview

REI Co-op is united around discovering, building and celebrating better ways of working in this world, all so that folks can find and pursue a love of the outdoors. When you work for the co-op, you do your best work with the support to live your best life. And you play a part in shaping the future of the outdoors, for people and our planet.

As a Financial Analyst II, you’ll help leaders make informed business decisions by delivering relevant, timely and technically sound financial analysis. In this role, you’ll support financial planning and analysis across the co-op, including management reporting, strategic planning, budgeting and special projects. You’ll work closely with Finance partners and operational leaders to interpret business performance, identify trends and translate complex financial information into clear recommendations. At times, you’ll work independently with the business areas you support, representing Finance as a trusted subject matter expert.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare financial analysis that identifies trends, evaluates performance and supports business decisions.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes.
  • Partner with department leaders to establish effective expense-tracking practices and meaningful performance measures.
  • Develop budget-justification analyses that help leaders evaluate and prioritize proposed operating budgets and investments.
  • Contribute to recurring co-op reporting, including leadership materials, business reviews and operational dashboards.
  • Prepare monthly reporting that explains profit-and-loss variances, gathers business input and supports updated forecasts.
  • Quantify the financial impact of strategic initiatives and contribute to long-range planning.
  • Evaluate proposed investments through profitability, lease-versus-buy and other financial analyses.
  • Track actual performance against financial projections for investments such as new stores, expansions and relocations.
  • Represent Finance on major Technology projects by reviewing cost-benefit analyses and partnering with Accounting to confirm capital and operating expense treatment.
  • Prepare annual member-dividend analyses, including projections of the financial and sales impact of potential policy changes.
  • Provide financial data and process explanations to internal and external auditors.
  • Build collaborative relationships with leaders and partners across Finance, headquarters, distribution centers and retail operations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Three or more years of related experience in finance, accounting or financial planning and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information, identify trends and objectively solve business problems.
  • Ability to communicate financial analysis and recommendations clearly and concisely.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and exercise sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated project-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and build productive working relationships.
  • Ability to consolidate information and feedback from multiple sources to support sound decisions.
  • Identify process improvements and use financial insight to build support for practical change.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting or a related field.
  • Experience with Essbase, SAP or comparable financial planning and enterprise resource planning systems preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
