Job Responsibilities and Requirements

A recognized technical expert and senior individual contributor who designs and leads the most complex, high-risk technical work while remaining deeply hands-on. The incumbent personally analyzes and resolves the most difficult technical and production problems, applies advanced specialized knowledge to evaluate alternatives and make recommendations, and establishes standards, reference designs, and reusable patterns. The role provides technical direction across multiple systems, platforms, or teams; reviews high-impact designs; mentors other engineers; and influences roadmaps and technical priorities. The incumbent exercises substantial discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, performs sustained computer-based technical work, and partners with management on planning, delivery, and technical risk. This role is not administrative or governance-only; it remains among the deepest technical experts in the discipline while extending into broader authority and influence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designs and leads the most complex, high-risk technical initiatives, remaining hands-on in architecture, design, development, and problem-solving rather than serving in a governance-only capacity

  • Personally analyzes and resolves the most difficult technical and production problems, including issues that cross systems or lack an established solution
  • Establishes engineering standards, reference designs, reusable patterns, and technical practices, and drives their adoption across the team or discipline
  • Reviews high-impact designs from other engineers and provides technical direction and guidance across multiple systems, platforms, or teams
  • Drives technical alignment across interconnected domains and partner teams, resolving competing technical approaches and dependencies
  • Shapes technical approaches for modernization and long-term sustainability, and establishes practices that improve reliability, maintainability, supportability, and operational resilience
  • Advances the adoption of AI-assisted engineering and AI-enabled delivery practices and helps establish responsible-AI standards for the team
  • Mentors engineers, influences roadmaps and technical priorities, and evaluates alternatives to make recommendations to leadership on matters of significance
  • Partners with management to inform planning, milestones, and delivery, and provides early visibility into technical risks, tradeoffs, and mitigation options
  • Serves as a trusted technical advisor, applies deep knowledge of the business and its products to align solutions with strategic objectives, and engages in high-priority production and incident escalations as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
