Program Outline
A Season of Development for a Lifetime of Ministry
The Center Church Residency is a purposeful, two-year leadership development program for 22–25-year-olds who are exploring vocational ministry and desire a season of intentional development and service to the local church.
Each resident will serve within a ministry track based on their gifts, experience, and the needs of the church. Ministry tracks may include Connections, Operations, Discipleship & Groups, Missions, Prayer, Students, Kids, Worship & Production, Creative Communications, and Salt Company (College Ministry).
Our vision is to build an outpost of the Kingdom of God that changes the spiritual climate of our city, and that starts with leaders who lead the way. Over the course of two years, residents will be developed holistically in theology, character, leadership, and ministry skill, preparing them to faithfully serve wherever God sends them.
Invested in Your Development
We believe deeply in investing in the next generation of ministry leaders. As part of the residency, Center Church provides funding to help residents pursue theological education or professional development.
Residents may use this funding toward a seminary degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS), with support available for up to two classes during the fall and spring semesters, or they may use those funds toward other professional development opportunities that align with their growth and ministry goals.
Our hope is to help each resident develop in ways that are both theologically grounded and practically equipped, connecting what they are learning to the realities of ministry and their unique calling.
Real Responsibility and Kingdom Impact
At Center Church, residents don't just observe ministry—they lead, serve, build, and take ownership.
Residents will be given meaningful responsibility within their ministry track, leading teams, shepherding people, managing projects, and contributing to the life and mission of the church. You will have opportunities to develop the practical skills and leadership instincts necessary for long-term ministry while being consistently shepherded and challenged by experienced leaders.
Throughout the residency, you will also gain a deeper understanding of what it means to make, mature, and multiply disciples and to live out the Great Commission in the local church and beyond.
We are looking for men and women who are hungry to grow, eager to be shepherded, committed to the local church, and passionate about the Great Commission. Our hope is that residents leave Center with greater clarity about how God has uniquely gifted and called them, along with the character, theological foundation, and leadership experience to faithfully steward those gifts for the sake of the Kingdom.
Job Description
The average time commitment for the residency is approximately 40 hours per week. We prioritize healthy rhythms of work and rest and want residents to have two days off each week.
A typical week will include:
- Staff Meetings & Leadership Development: 2–3 hours per week
- Ministry Track: 20–25 hours per week
- Administration & Support Raising: 1 hour per week
- Sunday Services & Ministry: 8-12 hours per week
- Seminary (optional): 3-6 hours per week
The specific rhythm and responsibilities will vary based on each resident's ministry track and season of development.
