  • Understanding of heating systems, associated pumps/valves, and safety requirements.
  • A basic understanding of PLC control systems.
  • Electrical fault finding to board/component level would be advantageous.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong Customer Service and Communication Skills—vital for liaising with customers.
  • A good Team Player who is comfortable with lone working, as this role involves travelling to customer sites.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a hands-on approach.

Education:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing, Heating, or Refrigeration (Essential)
  • G3 qualification unvented (essential)
  • FGAS (Desirable but not essential)

Location:

  • Ideal location for this role would be Reading, Newbury, or surrounding areas.

Maintenance & Repair:

  • Conduct routine servicing, fault finding, repairs, and preventive maintenance of industrial, commercial, and domestic ground and air-source heat pumps.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in heat pump systems.
  • Replace defective components and test system functionality.

Customer Support & Reporting:

  • Provide technical advice and support to customers, ensuring their systems operate smoothly.
  • Complete service reports and maintain up-to-date documentation.
  • Educate customers on system operation and energy efficiency.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.
  • Handle refrigerants safely and in accordance with environmental guidelines.
  • Stay updated on industry standards and best practices.

Job benefits

  • A competitive annual salary & overtime.
  • Company Van provided for business use.
  • Private Medical Insurance after successful completion of probation.
  • Electric Vehicle and Cycle to Work Salary Sacrifice Schemes.
  • £30 monthly phone allowance.
  • £50 quarterly social budget.
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Training, development and progression opportunities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
