Job Description

Salary Up to £55,000 depending on experience Location Woodchester, Glos

Renishaw’s Group Manufacturing Service Division are recruiting a Process Improvement Engineering Manager to manage a talented team of Engineers and Technicians at the Woodchester site.

The overarching responsibilities are Current Products Assembly Engineering process support and development, for Renishaw’s Industrial Metrology products.

This multidisciplinary role includes initiating and implementing strategic improvements, driving proactive and reactive improvement activities, influencing process design, as well as targeting and delivering quality, product cost, and cost avoidance improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Be a technical and management leader for a team of 6-10 technical staff, focusing on their support, performance management, personal development, and guiding them to achieve the goals of the department.
  • Have ownership and provide support of all processes within the assigned product families, whilst ensuring a high level of capability and efficiency across this product range supported and developed by your team.
  • Detailed investigation of process problems. You will lead and coordinate between multiple departments and disciplines, playing a key ‘dynamic’ role with high visibility.
  • Delivery of process improvements in an agile, fast-paced environment with challenging deadlines. Maintaining and advancing continuous improvement activities (the elimination of waste, reduction of product cost, and the enhancement of process controls).
  • The focal point and liaison of process improvement communication between product division and support services within the manufacturing services division.

Key requirements

  • The minimum of a degree level of education (2:1 or above) in a relevant technical discipline (manufacturing systems, mechanical, systems, or physics).
  • Proven success in the support or development of technical projects / processes. You will be expected to develop a high technical understanding of the products and process (including design intent, performance characteristics, and application).
  • Proven success in managing technical engineering activities (and ideally resources) in a dynamic environment, planning and managing the activities to a successful conclusion.
  • Demonstrate practical awareness of cellular assembly process design, development, and support encompassing effective control and mistake-proofing techniques.
  • Strong communications and negotiation skills.
  • Proven and successful application of structured problem-solving techniques with data driven, fact-based decision making.

Desirable requirements

  • Trained to Six sigma green belt level.
  • Previous supervision experience is desirable, but not essential.

Person specification

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background and will be able to demonstrate success in the support and development of complex, technically challenging assembly processes (demonstrating clear success in delivering to plan in past roles). The candidate must be able to lead and manage a team of technical staff in investigating complex and subtle process problems employing the latest analysis techniques and a sound, structured approach to ensure the correct conclusions are reached. Good communication skills are essential since the role will interface directly with MSD customers with exposure to Director level. A focused approach to waste reduction and product / process cost reduction is a key requirement of the role.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
