The Opportunity:

The Associate Director, Strategy & Operations, Japan serves as a trusted strategic and operational partner to the General Manager (GM), helping shape the future of Revolution Medicines in Japan. Working closely with the GM and Japan Leadership Team, this role drives business and culture initiatives that build a high-performing, patient-focused organization—from organizational build-out and product launch to sustained growth.

As a member of the Japan Leadership Team, this role translates business priorities into actionable plans and integrates functional milestones, risks, and dependencies into an enterprise-wide plan. The role connects Japan with regional and global teams, enabling timely decisions and resolution of critical issues.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role that drives execution through trusted relationships and influence, while respecting the responsibilities and authority of functional leaders.

Success in the First 1 to 2 Years

  • Become a trusted partner to the GM and Japan Leadership Team and advance key priorities for Japan.
  • Enable the first product launch in Japan through integrated planning and proactive issue resolution.
  • Establish clear decision-making and execution management processes that support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive Strategic Priorities with the GM

  • Partner with the GM to shape and drive key business and culture initiatives that advance Japan’s strategic priorities and bring company values to life.
  • Analyze key business and organizational issues and recommend options and actions.
  • Prepare materials for business reviews and reporting to regional and Global leadership.
  • Lead priority projects delegated by the GM and represent Japan in relevant meetings within the scope of that delegation.

Drive Enterprise Initiatives and Organizational Readiness

  • Coordinate and track enterprise-wide initiatives that support Japan’s organizational build-out, operational readiness for launch, and continued growth.
  • Consolidate updates from functional leaders to provide a clear view of progress, milestones, risks, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Identify organizational and operational readiness gaps, partner with functional leaders to drive resolution, and escalate decisions or support needs to the GM and Japan Leadership Team.

Support Japan Leadership Team Operations

  • Partner with the GM to set meeting agendas and priorities and facilitate discussion and decision making.
  • Track agreed actions, owners, and deadlines and follow through to completion.
  • Establish and improve governance, information sharing, and progress and risk management processes as the organization grows.
  • Partner with the GM and Japan Leadership Team to drive culture initiatives that bring company values to life, strengthen collaboration, and build a shared sense of purpose as the organization grows.

Strengthen Regional and Global Collaboration

  • Align Japan priorities with regional and global strategies and plans.
  • Communicate progress, critical issues, decisions, and support needs clearly and coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Capture lessons and operating practices from Japan to support future organizational build-out and launches across the region.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • At least 8 years’ experience in business strategy, business planning, or other relevant responsibilities
  • Bachelor's degree and relevant experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, management consulting, or a related field.
  • Experience driving complex cross-functional projects, business build-out, or organizational transformation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, including planning, progress tracking, and risk management.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and across functions and drive alignment and execution without direct authority.
  • Experience partnering with senior executives and preparing decision materials and executive reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
  • Ability to prioritize independently and deliver hands-on work in a fast-paced environment, with sound judgment and appropriate handling of confidential information.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience at a consulting firm, particularly in strategy, implementation, organizational transformation, PMO, or pharmaceutical projects.
  • Experience in organizational build-out, market entry, or product launch within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.
  • Experience working across Japan and Global or regional organizations.
  • Oncology or specialty pharmaceutical experience.
  • An MBA or a relevant advanced degree, or a project management certification.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
