The posting

About the Role

We are looking for a highly analytical, proactive, and tech-savvy Commercial Collections & UCC Research Specialist to support commercial debt recovery, business investigations, and operational case management.

This role combines three key functions: commercial collections and payment negotiations, UCC/DCC research and enforcement support, and administrative operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating with debtors, negotiating payment arrangements, investigating business relationships, identifying potential recovery opportunities, and maintaining accurate case documentation.

The ideal candidate is confident handling sensitive financial conversations, skilled at uncovering relevant business information, and capable of using technology and AI tools to improve research and operational efficiency. They must be resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to manage complex cases independently with minimal supervision.

Candidates must demonstrate relevant practical experience. General customer service, call centre, or administrative experience alone will not be sufficient

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1. Commercial Collections & Negotiations

  • Contact debtors to discuss outstanding financial obligations and negotiate payment arrangements.
  • Communicate firmly, professionally, and respectfully while working towards practical collection outcomes.
  • Explain financial obligations and payment requirements clearly.
  • Manage challenging conversations while maintaining professional relationships.
  • Conduct timely follow-ups on outstanding payments and agreed payment arrangements.
  • Document collection activities, negotiation outcomes, and next steps accurately.
  • Follow all applicable collection laws, regulations, and client-approved procedures.

2. UCC/DCC Research & Enforcement Support

  • Conduct investigative research into debtors, their businesses, and their commercial relationships.
  • Identify companies, customers, or third parties that may owe money to debtors and could represent potential recovery opportunities.
  • Research corporate connections, business relationships, and relevant commercial information using online sources and business research tools.
  • Analyse findings to identify potential leads for further investigation or recovery action.
  • Prepare professional correspondence and supporting documentation in line with client-approved procedures.
  • Organise research findings clearly and accurately for review and appropriate next steps.
  • Follow established legal and compliance procedures when supporting UCC/DCC-related enforcement activities.

3. Operations & Case Management

  • Maintain accurate spreadsheets, case records, research findings, and supporting documentation.
  • Track collection activities, deadlines, follow-ups, and case progress.
  • Use Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets to organise, analyse, and manage case information.
  • Maintain clear and structured records within CRM systems and document management platforms.
  • Use AI tools to support research, summarise information, organise findings, and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Manage multiple cases and competing priorities without compromising accuracy.
  • Identify operational issues, investigate discrepancies, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Provide clear updates and reports on case progress, research outcomes, and outstanding actions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant experience in commercial collections, debt recovery, payment negotiations, investigative research, or financial operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate payments firmly and professionally.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong investigative research and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to identify relevant business relationships and potential third-party payment obligations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Workspace.
  • Experience using AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with online business research tools, CRM systems, email platforms, and document management software.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and follow-ups.
  • Ability to work independently, learn complex processes quickly, and exercise sound judgement.
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential financial information.

Preferred Experience

  • Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) enforcement or related commercial recovery support.
  • DCC-related research or enforcement support, where applicable.
  • Commercial debtor investigations and business relationship research.
  • Identifying potential receivables, customers, or third parties connected to debtors.
  • Experience researching corporate structures, business affiliations, and commercial transactions.
  • Experience preparing formal correspondence and supporting documentation for recovery-related activities.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve investigative research, data analysis, documentation, and operational efficiency.

Required Software & Tools

Candidates must be comfortable using:

  • Microsoft Excel: Spreadsheet management, data analysis, filtering, sorting, and tracking.
  • Google Sheets & Google Workspace: Research tracking, collaborative documentation, and reporting.
  • AI platforms: ChatGPT, Claude, or equivalent tools for research and productivity.
  • Online business research tools: Corporate databases, business directories, public records, and other relevant research platforms.
  • CRM systems: Case tracking, contact management, and follow-up records.
  • Email platforms: Professional correspondence and negotiation follow-ups.
  • Document management software: Organising and maintaining case files and supporting records.

A high level of technical proficiency is essential. The successful candidate must be able to use available tools effectively rather than relying exclusively on manual processes.

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Negotiation: Assertive without being aggressive, with the ability to handle difficult financial conversations.
  • Communication: Excellent English and the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly.
  • Investigative research: Able to follow leads, identify connections, and uncover relevant business information.
  • Analytical thinking: Comfortable interpreting complex information and identifying inconsistencies or opportunities.
  • Technical proficiency: Strong spreadsheet skills and confidence using AI and digital research tools.
  • Attention to detail: Accurate documentation, reliable follow-ups, and careful handling of sensitive information.
  • Independence: Takes ownership of cases and resolves problems with minimal supervision.
  • Resourcefulness: Finds alternative ways to investigate issues and progress cases.
  • Organisation: Manages multiple investigations, collection activities, and deadlines effectively.
  • Professional judgement: Understands the importance of confidentiality, compliance, and appropriate escalation.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who combines strong commercial negotiation skills with investigative thinking and technical ability.

They are comfortable speaking with debtors about sensitive financial matters, researching complex business relationships, and identifying potential recovery opportunities. They do not simply follow a script or wait for instructions; they take initiative, investigate thoroughly, and use technology to work smarter.

They must be able to explain their reasoning, support their findings with evidence, and maintain accurate documentation throughout the process.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
