Role Overview

The Event Director is a senior event management and leadership role within LEE, responsible for leading complex, high-profile live experiences and event programmes from initial brief through to delivery.

The role combines strategic event leadership, senior client and stakeholder management, commercial oversight and team leadership. The Event Director ensures that the event experience delivers against client objectives while working closely with Client Leadership, Producers, Senior Producers and Technical Production to ensure the wider project is successfully delivered.

The Event Director is not a replacement for Client Leadership or the overall project/production lead. They provide senior event and experience leadership where the scale, complexity or strategic importance of a project requires it.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the development and delivery of complex, high-profile events and live experience programmes.
  • Translate client objectives and strategic requirements into compelling, achievable event experiences.
  • Provide senior event expertise from the earliest stages of a project, helping to shape the experience, approach and delivery model.
  • Establish clear event objectives, experience principles, priorities and success measures.
  • Challenge and develop event solutions to improve quality, impact, efficiency and scalability.
  • Provide senior oversight across multiple event workstreams, ensuring the experience remains coherent from concept through to delivery.
  • Contribute to the continued development and strategic growth of the LEE Event Management capability.

Event Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end event experience across complex projects and programmes.
  • Oversee event planning, logistics, guest experience, stakeholder requirements, schedules and onsite delivery.
  • Ensure the event is delivered to the required creative, operational and experiential standard.
  • Work closely with Producers and Technical Production to ensure event requirements are fully integrated into the wider production approach.
  • Provide senior onsite leadership, acting as a key decision-maker and escalation point.
  • Anticipate and manage complex risks, dependencies and challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead post-event evaluation, ensuring learnings are captured and translated into future improvements.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Act as the senior event lead and trusted advisor on complex event requirements and experience.
  • Understand the client's wider business objectives and ensure these are reflected in the event strategy and delivery.
  • Lead senior client meetings, presentations, event reviews and key decision-making sessions.
  • Provide confident, solutions-focused advice and challenge where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Client Leadership, maintaining clear ownership between the wider client/account relationship and event-specific leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships through high-quality event delivery and new event opportunities.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead multidisciplinary event teams across complex projects and programmes.
  • Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to Event Managers, Event Executives and wider LEE team members.
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities and ways of working across event teams.
  • Build confidence and capability within the Event Management vertical.
  • Share best practice and develop consistent approaches to event management across LEE.
  • Support resource planning and ensure teams are structured appropriately for the scale and complexity of each project.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and accountable LEE culture.

Commercial Management

  • Take senior responsibility for event budgets, costs and commercial performance.
  • Ensure event solutions are commercially viable and aligned with agreed client scope and project objectives.
  • Lead or support supplier negotiations and ensure value is achieved across event delivery.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities and efficiencies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Understand the impact of event decisions on project margin and make commercially informed recommendations.
  • Contribute senior event expertise to pitches, proposals and new business opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to develop repeatable event models, programmes and new commercial opportunities for LEE.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Significant experience leading complex events, live experiences, experiential programmes or a related agency environment.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale or high-profile events from strategy and planning through to onsite delivery.
  • Strong senior client and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to operate at senior levels.
  • Excellent understanding of event strategy, experience design, logistics and onsite delivery.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong commercial understanding, including budgets, suppliers, scope and project profitability.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, workstreams and competing priorities.
  • Strategic and commercially minded, with the ability to see beyond individual event delivery and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Highly organised, calm and solutions-focused.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work onsite as required.
  • Experience within sports, F1, experiential or premium brand environments would be advantageous.

Role Structure & Benefits

  • Hybrid FT London based role.
  • Private health insurance.
  • Contributory pension scheme.
  • Annual discretionary bonus scheme.
  • Enhanced maternity leave.
  • Individual training budget.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
