Riot Games median: 52 days open

The posting

Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played video game in the world, over 100 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the League of Legends experience.

We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

As a Music Supervision & Partnerships Lead on the Riot Games Music team, you will set Riot Games Music’s regional music strategy across China and APAC. You will bring music supervision, artist and industry partnerships, and platform strategy together to create high-impact music experiences across Riot’s games and entertainment portfolio.

You will identify where music can make the greatest difference, shape the approach early, and build the creative and industry partnerships needed to deliver it. You will lead a select portfolio of high-impact or complex initiatives from opportunity through creative development, partnership, and rollout, including delivery to relevant China/APAC music platforms.

You will work with product, publishing, marketing, esports, audio, Legal, Business Affairs, Artist Partnerships, Release Management, and global Riot Games Music teams, and bring regional player and market insight into global planning. You are a senior partner to Riot teams and a credible representative of Riot with artists, managers, labels, publishers, platforms, and other industry leaders.

You will take a senior individual contributor, not a people-management role. You will raise the quality and reach of the work through strategy, relationships, creative judgment, and influence across teams—not by becoming an approval step for every project.

You will report into the Sr Manager, Music Supervision of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Set and evolve Riot Games Music’s China/APAC strategy for music supervision and music-led partnerships across assigned games, esports, campaigns, and other Riot initiatives.
  • Recommend where to focus regional effort, including the music opportunities, audiences, products, and partnerships with the greatest potential to benefit players and Riot. Advise product, publishing, marketing, and esports leaders early in planning; shape briefs, music direction, partnership opportunities, and measures of success.
  • Lead a selective portfolio of high-impact or complex music initiatives, from initial opportunity and creative strategy through partner engagement, production, rollout, and review. Set the music and creator-partnership approach for regional campaigns, working with the designated campaign owner on positioning, timing, activation, and audience plans.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships with artists, managers, labels, publishers, music agencies, platforms, regional publishers, and other industry partners across China and APAC. Identify and develop artist, label, platform, and other industry partnerships that advance Riot’s creative, audience, and business goals. Lead high-stakes artist and music partnerships, including partner selection, creative alignment, negotiation strategy, and issue resolution; work with Business Affairs and Legal on terms, approvals, and contracts.
  • Set regional platform and rollout strategies for music releases and activations. Work with publishing, Release Management, and campaign owners to plan delivery across relevant China/APAC music and social platforms. Guide the choice and execution of original music, licensed music, artist collaborations, and composer-led work, ensuring each approach fits the product, audience, cultural context, rights, budget, and timeline.
  • Bring China/APAC player, culture, and market insight into global Riot music planning; help global teams adapt ideas for the region and help regional teams connect to global opportunities.
  • Use audience, platform, campaign, and partner feedback to assess results and improve future music and partnership strategies. Work with Label Affairs, Business Affairs, Legal, Artist Partnerships, Release Management, and other authorized teams to address rights, deal, platform, and delivery requirements early. Make clear recommendations and tradeoffs when creative goals, rights, budget, schedule, or partner needs conflict; escalate decisions that require authority outside the role.
  • Develop regional playbooks, partner knowledge, and working practices that help other supervisors and collaborators deliver strong work without creating unnecessary process. Mentor peers and developing music professionals through direct collaboration, feedback, and sharing industry and craft knowledge; this role does not carry formal people-management accountability. Represent Riot Games Music in senior regional and global conversations and contribute a clear China/APAC perspective to the broader music strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressively senior experience in music supervision, artist partnerships, music marketing, A&R, music production, licensing, or a related field across games, entertainment, labels, platforms, or media.
  • A record of setting music or partnership strategy across a portfolio, market, or region—not only delivering individual projects.
  • Demonstrated success leading high-impact music campaigns, artist partnerships, or music releases from strategy through execution and rollout.
  • Deep knowledge of the China/APAC music industry and an established network of senior artists, managers, labels, publishers, platforms, agencies, or other relevant partners. Strong understanding of music rights, sync licensing, publishing, master rights, artist and composer agreements, and music usage across media and territories.
  • Experience building and maintaining senior relationships and leading complex, high-stakes artist or industry partnerships. Experience managing budgets, schedules, partner commitments, risks, and delivery requirements across complex work.
  • Excellent creative judgment and the ability to connect music choices to product goals, player needs, cultural context, and audience response.
  • Ability to influence senior internal and external partners, align groups with different goals, and make clear recommendations when information or priorities are changing.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. Professional fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English, with the ability to work effectively across Shanghai, Los Angeles, and other global teams.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Chinese publishing partners or music and social platforms in China and APAC. Experience planning music releases or campaigns across multiple regional platforms and audience communities.
  • Experience with major artist partnerships, cross-border collaborations, esports, games, cinematics, live events, or other player-facing entertainment. Experience using audience and platform insights to assess campaign or partnership performance and inform future strategy.
  • Familiarity with Riot’s games, characters, worlds, and player communities.
  • Working knowledge of music production and delivery, including recording, mixing, mastering, metadata, credits, and rights documentation.
  • Experience mentoring senior or developing creative partners without relying on formal authority.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
