About the role

We are offering a 3-month internship opportunity in Engineering based at our Johnson Camp Mine (JCM) worksite just outside Tucson, Arizona.

We have technical development programs that are industry-leading and recognize the unique nature of your role. Working in a challenging and exciting environment, your responsibilities may involve:
- Catalog each process instrument.
- Create data sheets with both nominal and actual process information.
- Compile O&M manuals.
- Develop wiring diagrams.
- Create set-up drawings.
- Document actual set-up photographs.
- Assess instrument quality, configuration, and operation.
- Provide recommendations for future re-use and improvements.
- Recover the complete set of M3 manuals delivered to JCM.
- Develop as-built manuals covering the full process, including scale-ups.
- Incorporate proprietary data, diagnostic tools, and detailed functional descriptions.

What you’ll bring
- At least two years completed in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Leadership skills, eagerness to learn and ready for the challenge ahead
- Flexibility and autonomy
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
*To be eligible, you must be a registered student at a recognized American university, have the right to work full-time in the United States and have a valid Driver’s license.

Where will you be working
Nuton™ is an innovative Rio Tinto venture founded on extensive copper leach technology research. Although our research is vast, our ambition has been focused from our beginning – producing better copper with a smaller environmental footprint. The first commercial scale deployment of the Nuton technology is currently under construction at Gunnison’s Johnson Camp Mine located 1 hour outside Tucson, Arizona.
