We built an agentic platform that helps content creators, podcasters, marketers, and major brands like Spotify, TED, NBC, Netflix, and Disney capture and create high quality audio and video content with ease. The traditional production process is slow and never built for today's scale. Riverside's technology streamlines the entire content production process, turning real conversations into professional grade videos, podcasts, webinars, livestreams, and whatever comes next.

Everything we ship runs on our platform, and it has to be fast, reliable and secure for millions of creators recording at the same time. This is where your role comes in: as Head of Platform Engineering, you'll lead the group that builds and runs the foundation every Riverside product stands on.

About the Platform Engineering Group

The Platform Engineering group is the backbone of Riverside's R&D. We own the core platform services, our cloud infrastructure, backend engineering, DevOps, Developer Experience, Security, and the infrastructure our AI agents run on that power up Riverside. Every recording, edit and export our users make goes through systems this group builds and keeps running.

The group is about 15 engineers in several teams, each with its own team lead, and reports to our VP R&D. It's a new role that brings Platform, Backend Engineering, Developer Experience, DevOps, Security and AI infrastructure under one leader, so you'll shape how the group is built, how it works, and where it goes next.

On your Day to Day

We're looking for an engineering leader who grew up as a developer, knows infrastructure deeply, and loves building teams that let everyone else move faster.

  • Lead the Platform Engineering group (Backend, DevEx, Platform, DevOps, security, and AI infrastructure) through its team lead
  • Own the reliability, scalability, cost and security of our cloud infrastructure and core platform services
  • Set the platform roadmap with the VP R&D, and balance it against what product teams need right now
  • Hire, grow and coach team leads and engineers, and build a group people want to join and stay in
  • Work closely with the other R&D groups, Product and the business to understand what matters most and unblock them
  • Stay close to the details: join design reviews, dive into incidents, and make the hard technical calls
  • Help shape how Riverside builds with AI, from the infrastructure our agents run on to how engineers work day to day

Requirements

  • A real background as a hands-on software developer, specifically in Backend Engineering and/or Developer Experience.
  • Experience in DevOps, SRE or infrastructure, either hands-on or leading those teams
  • Experience leading multiple teams through team leads (group manager, director or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes (AWS, GCP or similar)
  • A track record at SaaS companies, ideally in a fast growing scale-up
  • A clear communicator who can explain technical trade-offs to engineers and to the business
  • Comfortable building structure where there is little, and moving fast under ambiguity
  • Experience with security, AI infrastructure or media streaming - a big plus!
