The posting

About Rivian Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Role Summary Rivian is seeking a Field Service Engineer to provide hands on technical support for Legal matters involving vehicle inspections, warranty support, product concerns, and other high priority vehicle investigations. You will work at the intersection of field service, vehicle diagnostics, engineering, and Legal to help teams understand what happened, document what is present, and determine the appropriate technical next steps. This is a field oriented role for an engineer or automotive technical professional who can independently evaluate complex vehicle concerns, communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders, and produce accurate and technical documentation. As the Staff Field Service Engineer, Product Integrity & Defense, you will be required to travel throughout the East Coast approximately 70% of the time. This role will report to our Sr. Manager, Field Service Engineering. Responsibilities Conduct and coordinate vehicle inspections in support of warranty, product liability, and incident related matters. Perform structured vehicle evaluations, including visual inspections, diagnostic scans, functional testing, road testing when appropriate, and review of relevant service and vehicle information. Document inspection findings through detailed notes, photographs, video, measurements, diagnostic records, and technical reports. Work with Legal, outside counsel, Service, Quality, Engineering, consultants, and other stakeholders to define inspection scope and communicate technical findings. Respond to escalated cases by developing rapid diagnostic plans that prioritize customer uptime and serviceability, including software and hardware solutions. Recognize safety, or technical issues that require immediate escalation and coordinate the appropriate response. Provide clear technical explanations to both technical and non technical audiences. Help improve inspection protocols, training materials, workflows, and cross-functional processes. Support with insurance related matters as needed. Assist the Field Service training on legal and lemon law related topics. Travel to Service center, Vehicle locations, inspection sites, and other field locations as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent relevant; experience may be considered. 6 years of professional experience in automotive field service, vehicle diagnostics, automotive engineering, technical investigations, or a related field. Hands on experience diagnosing and troubleshooting EVs and complex vehicle systems. Experience conducting vehicle inspections and writing clear technical reports. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to attorneys, engineers, service teams, business partners, and customers or other involved parties. Ability to travel and work independently in a field environment. Strong judgment, attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to safe work practices. Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast paced, cross functional environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting warranty, product liability, or other product related investigations. Experience with vehicle crash or incident investigations, EVs, ADAS, vehicle dynamics, or safety critical systems. Experience with forensic photography, evidence preservation, or legal technical documentation. Experience testifying or supporting testimony in depositions, trials, arbitrations, or mediations. Training or experience in biomechanics, human factors, EV fire investigation, or crash reconstruction. Experience creating technical training, inspection protocols, or process improvements. Pay Disclosure The salary range for this role is $121,800 to $152,300 for New York based applicants. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
