The Assistant Implementation Portfolio Manager is a key member of the CIO Office, supporting the delivery and ongoing management of Raymond James Wealth Management’s centrally managed investment solutions. Working closely with Portfolio Managers and the wider investment team, you will be responsible for the efficient implementation of investment decisions across client portfolios, ensuring portfolios remain aligned to agreed investment models, risk parameters and client objectives.

This role offers excellent exposure to portfolio construction, investment implementation, trading, risk monitoring and discretionary portfolio management within a growing investment function. It is ideally suited to an ambitious investment professional seeking to develop towards a Portfolio Manager position while gaining hands-on experience across the full investment lifecycle.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Support the implementation and ongoing management of centrally managed investment solutions and discretionary portfolios.
  • Execute portfolio trades, rebalancing activities and cash management instructions in a timely and controlled manner.
  • Assist in the construction, implementation and maintenance of investment models, ensuring client portfolios remain aligned with strategic asset allocation and investment objectives.
  • Monitor portfolio positioning, risk metrics and suitability to ensure alignment with client mandates and BITA risk profiles.
  • Support Portfolio Managers in the ongoing oversight and management of tailored and model-based portfolios.
  • Manage investment implementation processes for new clients, portfolio transitions, cash allocations and standing orders.
  • Produce portfolio analytics, management information, investment reporting and client-facing materials.
  • Respond efficiently to adviser and stakeholder queries, ensuring a high level of service and effective execution of investment requests.
  • Utilise portfolio management and trading systems to support operational efficiency, investment governance and portfolio oversight.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Middle Office and other internal stakeholders to ensure the accurate execution of investment activity.
  • Support relationships with external providers, including risk rating agencies and investment platform partners.
  • Contribute to investment research, portfolio reviews and the ongoing enhancement of investment processes and capabilities within the CIO Office.
  • Assist with the continued development and growth of the firm's discretionary investment offering and centralised investment proposition.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree educated in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Experience within wealth management, investment management, private banking or a related financial services environment.
  • Good understanding of financial markets, asset classes and investment products.
  • Exposure to portfolio management, investment implementation, trading, asset allocation or investment operations activities.
  • Progress towards or commitment to obtaining a relevant professional qualification (e.g. CISI, CFA or equivalent) would be advantageous.

Senior Managers and Certification Regime:

This role is deemed a Certification Function under the SMCR, and you will be required to be certified, at least annually, by the Company under Function Requiring Qualifications and Client Dealing.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of investment management principles, portfolio construction and asset allocation concepts.
  • Knowledge of investment implementation processes, portfolio monitoring and risk management methodologies.
  • Understanding of the UK wealth management and asset management industry.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret investment data and identify portfolio actions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Understanding of FCA regulatory requirements and broader financial services compliance obligations.
  • General awareness of financial planning considerations and their interaction with investment solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with portfolio management, trading and market data systems.
  • Professional, resilient and able to challenge constructively where appropriate.
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and commitment to delivering positive client outcomes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
