  • Usual Work Location: QV 180 Lonsdale Street CBD/ Work from home

About the Opportunity

Join VicRoads' Corporate Affairs team in a newly created role supporting some of the organisation's most important enterprise-wide initiatives. Reporting to the Stakeholder Engagement Manager, you will help shape and deliver stakeholder engagement, communications and advocacy activities across a diverse portfolio of projects that influence how VicRoads operates and serves the Victorian community.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of stakeholder engagement, communications, public policy and organisational change. You'll partner with teams across the business to translate complex policy, technology and operational developments into practical outcomes that support business priorities, customer experience and organisational transformation

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the delivery of VicRoads’ enterprise-wide AI framework, partnering with People & Culture, Change and Corporate Services teams to drive activities across policy, governance, capability uplift, training and business adoption.
  • Contribute to workplace relations initiatives, including enterprise bargaining activities, through stakeholder engagement, communications planning, issue monitoring and development of communication materials.
  • Support policy, stakeholder and engagement activities relating to digital identity, privacy and fraud prevention, helping to translate emerging issues into practical business outcomes.
  • Partner with Technology and People & Culture teams to support workforce and talent initiatives associated with strategic business transformation and emerging capabilities.
  • Assist in the delivery of advocacy, road safety and community engagement programs that strengthen connections with learner drivers, newly arrived communities and other priority audience groups.
  • Support regulatory reform and advocacy initiatives by developing stakeholder maps, evidence-based submissions, briefs and engagement strategies that inform executive decision-making.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing advice on stakeholder engagement, issue management, communications and project delivery.
  • Coordinate stakeholder consultations, workshops, working groups, briefings and feedback processes to support organisational priorities and project outcomes.
  • Work closely with Change, Corporate Affairs and business teams to deliver integrated stakeholder engagement and communications strategies that support organisational change and business transformation.
  • Prepare high-quality briefs, presentations, FAQs, talking points, engagement materials and executive communications, while monitoring emerging issues and providing practical advice to support business priorities, government engagement and operational outcomes.

About you You are a relationship-driven communications and stakeholder engagement professional who combines strategic thinking with a practical, delivery-focused approach. You can translate complex policy and business priorities into clear actions and outcomes, build trusted stakeholder relationships, and confidently navigate ambiguity. You also have an interest in emerging technologies, including AI and digital transformation, and understand their potential impact on customers, operations and the broader business.

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have demonstrated experience advising on and supporting policy, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, communications or project delivery in a complex commercial and/or highly regulated environment.
  • Have experience preparing clear written materials, advice, briefings, messages and content for a range of audiences and channels.
  • Have worked effectively with leaders, project teams and subject matter experts to influence decisions, manage issues and deliver outcomes.
  • Possess advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex, sensitive or technical information into clear and actionable insights.
  • Have strong stakeholder engagement and advisory skills, with confidence working across teams and with government stakeholders.
  • Can provide advice on policy, advocacy, project and product matters, while connecting activities to broader organisational priorities.
  • Can identify risks, sensitivities and opportunities, assess their implications and recommend practical solutions.
  • Thrive in ambiguity, exercise initiative, discretion and sound judgement, and can deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have strong coordination and planning skills, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams, competing priorities, dependencies and stakeholder requirements.
  • Have an interest in emerging technologies, digital transformation and AI, and are curious about how technology can improve customer outcomes, organisational capability and business performance.
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in communications, public policy, stakeholder engagement, public relations, project management or a related discipline.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
