The posting

At Rocketship Public Schools, we believe in the infinite possibility of human potential. We believe that every student deserves the right to dream, to discover, and to develop their unique potential and it is our responsibility and our privilege to unleash the potential inside every Rocketeer we serve. Our non-profit network of public elementary charter schools propels student achievement, develops exceptional educators, and partners with parents who enable high-quality public schools to thrive in their community. We are a collective of parents, teachers, leaders, and students working together to transform the future for underserved communities across our country. At Rocketship Public Schools, we are unleashing potential.

In all Rocketship schools we aim to build strong relationships with families and cultivate inclusive communities. Los Dichos is a multilingual and multicultural reading experience that bridges the home and school. The Los Dichos Lead Parent supports the program by connecting families with the program, preparing for onsite events, and ensuring that partnership hours are honored. This role also provides an opportunity for parent leadership on each campus. This position is for the current academic year.

  • Material preparation. Prepare all Los Dichos materials prior to each reading (photocopies, cutting, sorting, and more) and reset the reading/activity materials in between each reading session.
  • Data entry. Record and highlight the names of the volunteer readers into a tracker on the computer.
  • Serve as a positive role model within the school community (abide by school policies, treat members of the school community with respect, answer questions about Los Dichos when asked).

Qualifications

  • Strongly preferred: Parent or family member of a current Rocketeer
  • Passion for working with children.
  • Previous experience or training working with youth
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members
  • Ability to learn laws, rules, practices and procedures related to public education and specific to Rocketship Education
  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn
  • At least High School diploma or equivalent.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
