The posting

Rockstar is recruiting for a growing technology company that helps businesses increase their visibility and revenue through modern websites, search engine optimization, and generative engine optimization. The company builds high-performance websites and develops tools that help businesses compete across traditional search engines and artificial intelligence platforms like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and other emerging search experiences. They are a dynamic team focused on delivering top-notch technology and design.

About the Company

They're a growing technology company helping businesses increase their visibility and revenue through modern websites, search engine optimization, and generative engine optimization.

They build high-performance websites and develop tools that help businesses compete across traditional search engines and artificial intelligence platforms like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and other emerging search experiences.

They're looking for a talented Web Developer with strong coding fundamentals who embraces artificial intelligence assisted development and can take ownership of website deployments, ongoing maintenance, and improvements across their growing portfolio of customer websites.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, part-time position for an experienced developer who knows how to write, understand, and troubleshoot code independently while using modern artificial intelligence tools to work more efficiently.

Cursor is a central part of their development workflow, and the developer will be encouraged to use it extensively to accelerate development. However, this is a coding position, not a prompt-only development role. Candidates must have a strong foundation in traditional web development and be capable of writing, reviewing, debugging, and modifying code without relying entirely on artificial intelligence.

The developer should understand how websites are structured, how the underlying code works, and how to identify and correct problems when artificial intelligence generated solutions are incomplete or incorrect.

The developer will work directly with the company's co-founders, with technical oversight from their Chief Technology Officer, who is also a co-founder. Primary responsibilities will focus on deploying new customer websites, maintaining existing websites, implementing updates, and resolving technical issues.

This role is focused on customer-facing website development and management rather than building or modifying the company's internal backend systems.

They're looking for someone who produces clean, professional code, communicates clearly, responds quickly, and can independently manage multiple website projects.

What You'll Do

  • Build, deploy, maintain, and improve customer websites using Cursor, GitHub, Netlify, and other modern development tools.
  • Write, review, debug, and maintain website code, using Cursor to accelerate development while ensuring all code meets professional standards.
  • Independently identify and resolve coding issues, including problems that cannot be solved through artificial intelligence generated suggestions alone.
  • Manage GitHub repositories, including creating and managing branches, committing changes, reviewing differences, resolving merge conflicts, and managing pull requests.
  • Handle website deployments through Netlify, including configuration, domain management, deployment troubleshooting, and hosting maintenance.
  • Implement website updates, new pages, design adjustments, integrations, and ongoing customer requests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website functionality issues, broken integrations, deployment errors, and performance problems.
  • Follow web security best practices, including secure configuration, dependency management, access controls, and protection of sensitive information.
  • Maintain clean, organized, well-structured, and professional code across customer projects.
  • Collaborate with the company's leadership to prioritize customer requests, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards of quality.
  • Ensure websites are responsive, fast, accessible, and compatible across modern browsers and devices.
  • Manage technical aspects of website launches, including domain configuration, redirects, forms, and third-party integrations.
  • Review and validate artificial intelligence generated code before deployment to ensure accuracy, security, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Respond promptly to technical requests, communicate project status clearly, and proactively identify potential issues.

What You'll Need

  • Strong professional experience in website development, including the ability to write and troubleshoot code independently.
  • Solid proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web development practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand website architecture, code structure, application logic, and development best practices.
  • Experience using Cursor or similar artificial intelligence assisted development environments to improve coding efficiency.
  • Strong proficiency with GitHub, including repository management, branching strategies, pull requests, merging, conflict resolution, and version control.
  • Hands-on experience with Netlify for website hosting, deployments, domain management, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to independently review, debug, modify, and improve code generated through artificial intelligence tools.
  • Strong understanding of website security principles and best practices.
  • Experience integrating website forms, analytics platforms, tracking scripts, and third-party services.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently and implement reliable solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to writing clean, professional, maintainable code.
  • Excellent communication skills, fast response times, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Astro Static Site Generator and static website architecture.
  • Familiarity with search engine optimization best practices, including technical website performance, structured data, redirects, and metadata.
  • Experience working with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console.
  • Experience with custom domains, domain name system configuration, secure connections, and website migrations.
  • Experience managing multiple customer websites simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with modern website performance optimization and Core Web Vitals.

Technology Stack

The company operates on a modern website development stack, including:

  • Cursor for artificial intelligence assisted development and code editing.
  • GitHub for version control, repository management, and collaboration.
  • Netlify for website hosting, deployment, and domain management.
  • Astro Static Site Generator for building fast, high-performance websites.
  • Internal tools for website management, reporting, and customer operations.

Experience with Cursor, GitHub, and Netlify is especially important. Familiarity with Astro is a strong advantage, although they're open to candidates with experience in similar modern frameworks who can learn their environment quickly.

What They're Looking For

They want a developer who combines strong coding skills with an artificial intelligence forward approach to development.

The ideal candidate is a capable web developer first and an effective user of artificial intelligence development tools second. The candidate should know how to code without Cursor, but recognize how tools like Cursor can make them significantly faster and more productive.

They're not looking for someone whose development experience is limited to prompting artificial intelligence tools and accepting the resulting code. The candidate must be able to understand what is being built, evaluate the quality of the code, identify potential problems, and make technical decisions independently.

The candidate should be comfortable taking a customer website request from initial requirements through development, testing, and production deployment with minimal oversight.

Responsiveness and reliability are particularly important. They work with a growing number of customers, and they need someone who communicates quickly, follows through on commitments, and takes pride in delivering clean, dependable work.

The developer will work closely with the company's co-founders, receive technical guidance from their Chief Technology Officer, and play an important role in delivering and maintaining the websites that power their customers' businesses.

Schedule

  • Hours: 20 to 30 hours per week
  • Location: Fully remote
  • Flexibility: Flexible scheduling, with an expectation of strong availability, prompt communication, and timely completion of customer requests

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
