Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Repair Engineer – Business Aviation (f/m/d) to join Rolls-Royce Deutschland in Dahlewitz near Berlin.

The opportunity

Deliver repair capabilities that keep our Business Aviation engines supported throughout their lifecycle. Combining engineering expertise with business judgement, you will translate fleet and customer needs into prioritised repair workpackages and coordinate their development, approval and industrial introduction with engineering teams, repair stations and the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) supply chain.

Based in Dahlewitz, near Berlin, you will contribute to the repair capability of Rolls-Royce Deutschland’s Business Aviation support organisation—from new engine introduction and capability ramp-up to mature fleet support and end-of-life obsolescence management.

You will own assigned workpackages from the initial business need to repair capability ready for operational use, working within agreed priorities, budgets and delegated authority. Product safety, airworthiness and technical compliance are requirements throughout; lifecycle cost, introduction timing and operational performance guide how we deliver.

The role offers end-to-end engineering ownership, collaboration across the repair network and the opportunity to develop relevant technical approval and compliance verification authorisations. You do not need to hold these authorisations when you join; previous experience of comparable delegations is beneficial.

What you will do

  • Shape lifecycle repair plans. Translate engine programme, fleet support and customer demand into repair priorities and delivery plans, contributing to the wider repair strategy from new engine introduction through capability ramp-up, in-service support and obsolescence risk management.
  • Own repair workpackage delivery. Define scope, deliverables, effort estimates, schedules, resources, risks and dependencies. Monitor effort, cost and progress against agreed baselines, coordinate cross-functional delivery and act on deviations within your authority. Improve workflows through practical digitalisation, responsible adoption of approved AI tools and effective engineering data management.
  • Deliver integrated industrialisation. Develop plans with repair stations, MRO shops and the supply chain, aligning engineering activities with the required point of introduction, yield, cost, turnaround time and other agreed operational targets. Agree readiness and acceptance criteria, coordinate introduction into approved repair stations and assess initial performance with operational partners.
  • Develop and validate repair solutions. Define repair designs and process requirements, coordinate substantiation and validation, and deliver solutions that meet product safety, airworthiness and technical requirements while optimising lifecycle cost and supporting business needs.
  • Ensure technical governance. Prepare repair standardisation reports and supporting evidence, and coordinate technical approval and compliance verification against applicable certification requirements, including CS-E. Develop towards relevant authorisations and perform approval or Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) duties only when authorised, maintaining required independence.
  • Align customers and stakeholders. Agree requirements, priorities, interfaces and delivery commitments with internal and external customers, engineering departments and service suppliers. Communicate progress, resolve competing demands and escalate risks and decisions when needed.
  • Justify investment and secure support. Build technical and business justifications for repair workpackages, substantiate resource and budget requirements, and negotiate support from engineering departments and external partners through the relevant approval processes.

What you will bring

Essential

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as aerospace, mechanical, production or design engineering.
  • Relevant experience in component design, manufacture, repair or overhaul of aerospace gas turbine engines or comparable products, including interpreting and creating technical drawings and working with engineering methods and tools.
  • An understanding of component functions, technical requirements and substantiation, together with the importance of certification, continued airworthiness and controlled engineering processes.
  • Experience defining and delivering technical workpackages, including effort estimation, scheduling, resource and budget planning, risk management and progress monitoring.
  • Business judgement: the ability to connect support needs with engineering priorities, justify investment and make delivery decisions informed by introduction timing, cost and operational performance.
  • Strong customer and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to negotiate priorities, resources and commitments across multidisciplinary teams and external organisations.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and willingness to travel on business.
  • Confident use of Microsoft 365 and the ability to identify and implement digital improvements. A practical understanding of how to evaluate and responsibly adopt approved AI tools, critically assess and verify outputs, and meet engineering assurance, data protection and intellectual property requirements.

Desirable

  • Experience with gas turbine engines, Business Aviation support, repair industrialisation or MRO operations.
  • Knowledge of repair processes such as welding, brazing, metal spraying or shot peening, and of Part 21J Design Organisation and Part 145 repair station responsibilities.
  • Previous technical approval or compliance verification delegations. Existing authorisations are not required; the role offers the opportunity to develop towards relevant authorisations through the applicable competence and approval processes.
  • Experience applying lean thinking to engineering delivery or business processes.
  • An appreciation of structured, traceable engineering data and familiarity with data management principles and data architecture.

As part of your application please could you include a cover letter and any supporting qualifications.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
