- Earthing and lightning protection systems
- Prepare model-based layouts and drawings for construction and installation.
- Ensure adequate routing, clearances and accessibility for installation and maintenance.
2. Instrumentation BIM Modelling
- Develop 3D models and layouts for instrumentation and control systems.
- Model field instruments, junction boxes, instrument cable trays, control panels and associated equipment.
- Develop instrument location and routing layouts based on engineering inputs.
- Coordinate instrument positioning with piping and equipment arrangements.
- Ensure accessibility of instruments for operation, calibration and maintenance.
3. BIM Coordination & Clash Detection
- Coordinate E&I models with piping, mechanical, structural, architectural and other engineering disciplines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary BIM coordination and model review sessions.
- Perform clash detection and identify potential installation conflicts before construction.
- Work with BIM Coordinators and discipline engineers to resolve clashes and update models.
- Ensure coordinated routing of cable trays and other E&I services within congested plant areas.
4. Engineering Drawings & Documentation
- Generate accurate 2D drawings and deliverables from approved BIM models.
- Prepare and update:
- Electrical equipment layouts
- Cable tray layouts
- Lighting layouts
- Earthing layouts
- Instrument location layouts
- Instrument/JB layouts
- Sections and installation details
- Incorporate engineering comments, client feedback and approved design changes into models and drawings.
5. EPC Project & Construction Support
- Support engineering, procurement and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate BIM models against vendor equipment dimensions and interfaces.
- Support constructability reviews to identify installation constraints before site execution.
- Revise models based on approved site changes and engineering modifications.
- Support preparation of as-built BIM models and drawings following project completion.
6. BIM Standards & Model Management
- Follow project BIM Execution Plans, modelling procedures, naming conventions and document-control requirements.
- Maintain appropriate model accuracy and Level of Development (LOD) according to project requirements.
- Ensure models and drawings comply with client and company engineering standards.
- Support BIM model reviews and quality checks before deliverable submissions.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, BIM, Engineering Design/Drafting, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit for electrical and instrumentation BIM modelling and drawing production, including creating and modifying Revit families, working with linked models and work sets, and preparing coordinated layouts, schedules and sheets.
- Relevant BIM certification or software training would be advantageous.
- Approximately 3–5 years of BIM/modelling experience, preferably within EPC, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, energy or industrial projects.
- Practical experience in E&I design/modelling for industrial facilities is strongly preferred.
