Job Responsibilities

  • Source, evaluate, and develop suppliers for precision machining, sheet metal, fabrication, mechanical assemblies, automation equipment, and contract manufacturing.
  • Execute strategic sourcing activities to meet project cost, quality, delivery, and technical requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings, BOMs, GD&T, and specifications to assess supplier capabilities and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Manage RFQ/RFI processes, including quotation analysis, cost breakdowns, technical clarification, and supplier benchmarking.
  • Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, technical requirements, quality, and delivery terms.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and NPI teams on new product introductions, product transfers, and engineering changes.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives through VAVE, value engineering, design optimisation, supplier consolidation, and alternative sourcing.
  • Drive supplier qualification, development, performance reviews, and continuous improvement to enhance quality, cost, delivery, and capacity.
  • Support DFM/DFA reviews, prototype builds, first article inspections, and pilot production.
  • Conduct supplier audits, capability assessments, risk evaluations, and capacity planning to ensure supply continuity.
  • Maintain sourcing records, supplier databases, cost analyses, and procurement documentation using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Support strategic sourcing projects, market research, should-cost analysis, and supplier improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supplier development, or manufacturing within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of precision machining, sheet metal, welding, fabrication, mechanical assemblies, and contract manufacturing.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Hands-on experience in supplier sourcing, RFQ management, quotation analysis, negotiations, and cost reduction.
  • Good understanding of DFM/DFA, manufacturing feasibility, supplier qualification, and performance management.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, particularly Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and NPI.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (preferably SAP) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
