The posting

We are looking for a practical, organised and technically minded individual to assist with an important stock-identification project in our warehouse.

Our warehouse currently holds a significant volume of excess and older stock across a wide range of products and components. Although each item has a stock code or SKU, many items do not have a clear or usable product description. This makes it difficult for our sales teams to understand what stock is available and determine how it can be sold.

The successful candidate will physically inspect the stock, identify each item using the product, packaging, labels and available technical information, and accurately record the relevant details against the correct SKU. This is a hands-on warehouse-based role combined with detailed Excel and data-capture work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Physically inspect and identify products and components held in the warehouse.

• Match each item to its correct SKU or stock code.

• Record clear and accurate product descriptions, including relevant specifications such as product type, size, wattage, capacity or application.

• Take clear photographs of products, packaging and labels.

• Capture product information and photographs into structured Excel spreadsheets.

• Assess the apparent condition of stock and classify items appropriately, for example:

• Sellable stock

• Damaged or broken stock

• Obsolete or redundant stock

• Scrap or disposal stock

• Items requiring further technical review

• Flag products that cannot be confidently identified.

• Check information carefully to avoid duplication, incorrect descriptions or mismatched SKUs.

• Maintain organised records that can ultimately be uploaded into the company’s ERP system.

• Work closely with warehouse, technical and sales employees where additional product information is required.

• Follow all warehouse safety requirements while inspecting and handling stock.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric or an equivalent qualification.

• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

• Good computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

• Strong written literacy and numerical ability.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• A logical and methodical approach to problem-solving.

• The ability to interpret information from product labels, packaging and basic technical specifications.

• The ability to work systematically through a large volume of stock.

• Comfortable working independently and completing repetitive, detail-focused tasks accurately.

• Physically able to work on your feet in a warehouse environment and safely handle or move stock where required.

• Available to start immediately and commit to the full four-month contract.

ADVANTAGEOUS

• An electrical, electronic, engineering or technical qualification, or current studies in one of these areas.

• Basic knowledge of electrical products, lighting, batteries, solar products, components or related equipment.

• Previous experience with stock identification, product cataloguing, asset verification, data capture or inventory projects.

• Exposure to an ERP or stock-management system such as NetSuite.

Previous lighting or warehouse experience is not essential. We are primarily looking for someone who is curious, practical, detail-oriented and able to use sound judgement when working through unfamiliar products.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You will enjoy making sense of disorganised information and turning it into accurate, usable data. You should be comfortable inspecting physical products, researching or interpreting what they are, taking photographs and then capturing the information carefully in Excel.

You will need to be reliable, productive and able to maintain accuracy while working through a high volume of individual stock items.

CONTRACT DETAILS

• Fixed-term contract till 15 December 2026.

• Warehouse-based position.

• Immediate start required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
