Advanced Practice Opportunities Across Alaska

Rural Staffing Services partners with rural hospitals, clinics, Tribal health organizations, community health centers, regional health systems, and healthcare organizations throughout Alaska to identify experienced advanced practice providers who understand the importance of maintaining access to care across rural, remote, and frontier communities.

We are currently connecting with professionals interested in active and upcoming nurse practitioner, physician assistant, nurse midwife, and other advanced practice opportunities throughout Alaska.

These opportunities may include positions within Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Tribal health organizations, village clinics, community hospitals, regional health systems, outpatient clinics, specialty practices, long-term care organizations, and communities that may be accessible only by air, water, or seasonal transportation.

This Is More Than an APP Role

Advanced practice providers are essential to healthcare access across Alaska.

In some communities, an APP may be one of only a few local healthcare providers available to patients. These professionals may deliver primary and preventive care, support emergency and inpatient services, manage chronic and complex conditions, strengthen specialty programs, coordinate medical evacuations or referrals, and help communities maintain services that would otherwise require patients to travel hundreds of miles.

The strongest rural Alaska APPs are collaborative, resourceful, culturally respectful, clinically confident, and comfortable practicing with a high level of independence while remaining connected to physicians, nurses, community health aides, specialists, pharmacists, behavioral health professionals, emergency transport teams, and regional healthcare partners.

They understand that practicing in Alaska may require flexibility, creativity, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships within close-knit communities.

Some opportunities may offer a traditional clinic schedule in a road-system community. Others may include village travel, rotational schedules, inpatient coverage, emergency care, call responsibilities, specialty services, leadership duties, per diem work, or short-term support during a staffing gap.

Why Rural Alaska?

Alaska is unlike anywhere else.

Its rural and frontier communities stretch across vast regions of mountains, forests, tundra, rivers, islands, and coastline. Some communities are connected by highways. Others are reached only by plane, boat, snowmachine, or seasonal transportation.

Across these communities, advanced practice providers play an essential role in keeping healthcare close to home.

Working in rural Alaska offers the opportunity to practice with purpose, develop meaningful relationships, experience a broad clinical scope, and see the direct impact of your work.

You may become a trusted provider for generations of families. You may help stabilize a patient before transport, support a community through a staffing shortage, expand access to behavioral or specialty care, or allow someone to receive treatment without leaving their family and community for an extended period.

Rural Alaska also asks something meaningful of its healthcare professionals. It requires humility, resilience, cultural respect, adaptability, and an appreciation for the strengths and knowledge already present within each community.

Even short-term, rotational, or per diem coverage can make a meaningful difference by supporting local teams, protecting patient access, reducing provider burnout, and giving an organization time to build a more permanent solution.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
