Job Description:

The Macro and Credit Research team evaluates and recommends investment strategies for internal and external clients. Its coverage spans fixed income, credit, and macro strategies, including long-only and hedge fund approaches.

The Senior Research Analyst conducts in-depth research on third-party investment managers and their strategies. Working with senior members of the team, the analyst builds manager relationships, gathers and evaluates investment and operational information, applies quantitative tools, and identifies the key drivers of strategy performance, risk, and fit.

The role is expected to take ownership of defined manager research assignments, develop well-supported views and ranking recommendations, and contribute investment ideas for client and Russell portfolios. The analyst will also help strengthen research processes and produce clear, decision-useful analysis for investment teams and clients.

The successful candidate brings strong fixed-income knowledge, sound investment judgment, and experience analyzing portfolios using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Experience researching external investment managers is required as is knowledge of the fixed income manager universe . Strong communication and relationship-management skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with investment managers, colleagues, and clients. Programming skills, particularly in Python, are important; experience with VBA, SQL, or other analytical tools is also valuable.

This position offers the opportunity to work with a small, experienced team and grow toward broader manager research and investment responsibilities.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, and validate data to support manager and strategy research.
  • Conduct detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis of investment managers and their strategies.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with third-party investment managers.
  • Form research agendas for manager meetings, combining prior analysis with focused questions that make effective use of meeting time.
  • Explain manager views, investment processes, and research conclusions clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop research-based views and ranking recommendations for assigned strategies, supported by relevant evidence and analysis.
  • Document manager assessments, research conclusions, key risks, and changes in investment views.
  • Prepare supporting analysis and content for investment recommendations and portfolio discussions.
  • Create clear investment research and market content for internal and external audiences.
  • Work with team members to set research priorities and deliver agreed objectives.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve research methods, data quality, and team processes.
  • Use AI and other analytical tools responsibly to improve research processes and efficiency.

Your Expertise:

  • 7-10 years of investment or related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree or higher is preferred. A degree in finance or a quantitative field is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of fixed-income markets, investment principles, asset classes, and relevant financial theory.
  • Experience analyzing investment portfolios, including factor analysis, risk exposures, performance attribution, or related portfolio analytics.
  • Ability to assess complex quantitative and qualitative information and translate findings into clear investment views.
  • Experience evaluating investment managers and their strategies is required.
  • Programming and data skills, including Python; experience with VBA and SQL is an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
  • CFA or CAIA charterholder, or progress toward a designation, is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, curiosity, and enthusiasm for continued learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve research quality, processes, or efficiency.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
