About the Role

Rydon Primary School is seeking to appoint a caring, committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for identified children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Year 3.

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider support team to help pupils access learning, develop independence, regulate their emotions, build positive relationships and make progress towards their individual outcomes. The role will involve providing targeted support throughout the school day, adapting learning activities and implementing personalised strategies to meet each child's needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusion and committed to making a positive difference to the learning, wellbeing and development of children with additional needs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide dedicated support for identified pupils with SEND in Year 3.
  • Support pupils to access learning across the curriculum through appropriate adaptations and scaffolding.
  • Implement strategies and provision outlined within EHCPs, provision maps and individual support plans.
  • Deliver personalised learning activities and interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo.
  • Support pupils with communication and interaction needs, cognition and learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, and sensory or physical needs.
  • Promote pupils' independence, confidence, resilience and engagement in learning.
  • Support emotional regulation through the use of agreed strategies, sensory supports and nurturing approaches.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support the implementation of individual behaviour and support plans.
  • Observe, monitor and record progress towards individual targets, providing feedback to teachers and the SENDCo.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents and external professionals to support pupil outcomes.
  • Support pupils during transitions, lunchtimes, educational visits and other school activities where required.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with the preparation and organisation of resources to meet individual needs.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of working with primary-aged children.
  • Have experience of supporting children with SEND, particularly those requiring additional support to access learning and regulate throughout the school day.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy and a nurturing approach.
  • Understand the importance of inclusion and adaptive teaching.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
  • Work effectively as part of a team whilst also using their own initiative.
  • Be flexible, organised and resilient.
  • Have a commitment to helping all children achieve their full potential.

We Can Offer

  • A welcoming, friendly and supportive school community.
  • Dedicated support from experienced colleagues and school leaders.
  • Opportunities for high-quality professional development and training.
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children with additional needs.
  • The chance to work within a school that values inclusion and celebrates every child's success.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
