Position Summary

The Retail Associate welcomes guests to the resort’s retail shops, helps them find merchandise that fits their needs, and processes purchases accurately. The associate keeps the sales floor organized and well stocked and takes ownership of guest requests, from locating a particular size to finding a gift within a guest’s budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet guests promptly, offer assistance, and give them space to browse. Ask questions to understand what they are looking for and recommend items that suit their preferences, occasion, or budget.
  • Explain product features, sizing, pricing, and care instructions. Check available stock when an item is missing from the sales floor and offer alternatives when the requested item is unavailable.
  • Use the point-of-sale system to process purchases, returns, and exchanges according to resort procedures. Verify guest information before posting authorized room charges. Confirm prices and discounts, provide receipts, and package purchases with care.
  • Receive, count, tag, and replenish merchandise. Check deliveries against inventory records and report discrepancies or damaged items to the retail leader.
  • Keep displays tidy, prices visible, and aisles clear. Refold and rehang merchandise throughout the shift, maintain fitting rooms where applicable, and prepare promotional displays as directed.
  • Listen to guest concerns, explain available options, and involve a retail leader when a request requires approval. Follow up with the guest when checking stock or resolving a pricing question.
  • Complete assigned opening and closing duties, including preparing the register, balancing the cash drawer, and securing merchandise. Follow cash-handling and loss-prevention procedures and protect guest payment information.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Clear communication and attentive listening skills to assist guests in person and by phone.
  • Basic math skills to verify prices, apply authorized discounts, count change, and reconcile transactions.
  • Ability to learn the merchandise assortment and use point-of-sale and inventory systems accurately.
  • Attention to detail when handling payments, checking stock, and arranging displays.
  • Ability to prioritize guests during busy periods and coordinate with coworkers to keep the register and sales floor covered.

Preferred Experience

Previous experience in retail sales, cashiering, or guest service is preferred. Experience in a resort gift shop, boutique, or specialty store is desirable.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The Retail Associate must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties may involve standing and walking for extended periods, bending and reaching to stock shelves, and lifting or carrying merchandise and supplies between the stockroom and sales floor. Schedules may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on resort operations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
