Facilities & Maintenance Associate A Hands-On Role with Room to Grow into Team Leadership About the Role We’re looking for a dependable, hands-on person who takes pride in keeping a workplace clean, safe, organized, and in good working order. This role combines daily janitorial work with basic facilities upkeep, minor repairs, and outdoor maintenance—ideal for someone with handyman skills who enjoys solving problems and wants to grow toward a supervisory role. You’ll work across office and manufacturing areas, handling routine tasks independently and responding to upkeep needs as they arise. You’ll also learn how to operate the facility’s heating and cooling systems, recognize when they may not be working properly, and promptly report concerns. As you learn the facility and demonstrate strong judgment, reliability, and initiative, you may have opportunities to take on additional coordination or leadership responsibilities. Advancement depends on business needs and demonstrated performance. What You’ll Do
Clean and maintain office and manufacturing areas, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and wiping surfaces. Clean restrooms and keep bathrooms, supply rooms, and shared areas stocked and organized. Collect and dispose of trash and respond promptly to spills and urgent cleaning requests, using appropriate equipment and procedures. Perform basic, approved facilities upkeep and minor repairs within your experience and training. Examples may include changing light bulbs, painting, and completing simple repairs. Learn to operate facility heating and cooling systems according to established procedures; monitor their general operation, recognize unusual conditions or signs of a problem, and report them promptly. Identify maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or repairs that require a qualified technician, and report them promptly. Do not perform work beyond your training or authorization. Help maintain outdoor areas, including landscaping and lawn care, and seasonal snow and ice removal. Keep tools, equipment, and supplies organized, and notify the appropriate person when items need replenishing or repair. Complete routine work efficiently with minimal supervision while following instructions, safety practices, and facility procedures. As experience and business needs allow, help coordinate tasks, communicate priorities, and support or guide other team members. Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
At least two years of experience in janitorial, facilities, maintenance, handyman, or a related hands-on role. High school diploma or GED. Practical repair skills and the judgment to recognize when a task is outside your training or requires a qualified professional. Interest in learning to operate facility heating and cooling systems and identify when they may need attention. A strong sense of ownership, pride in your work, and attention to cleanliness and detail. Initiative, sound time-management skills, and the ability to work independently while taking direction. A helpful, professional approach when responding to requests from employees and visitors. Interest in developing leadership skills and taking on more responsibility over time. Willingness to work early-morning or late-night shifts, as needed. Ability to lift and move at least 30 pounds without assistance and perform repetitive motions. Ability to perform the essential physical tasks of the role, including outdoor and seasonal work, with or without reasonable accommodation.
A Growth Opportunity This position may suit someone who wants to build a career in facilities work—not just complete a cleaning checklist. You’ll have the opportunity to learn the facility, develop hands-on skills across building upkeep and outdoor maintenance, contribute ideas for improving operations, and demonstrate readiness for expanded responsibilities, including helping coordinate work or supervise others if an opportunity becomes available. A college degree is not required. Relevant hands-on experience, reliability, initiative, and a willingness to learn are valued.
