The posting

Title: House Manager & Family Assistant Location: San Jose, CA Employment Type: Part-time (15–20 hours/week + weekly date night and monthly overnight) Start Date: ASAP (ideally January 2026) Compensation: $35–40/hour

We are a professional family of four in San Jose seeking a highly organized and proactive House Manager & Family Assistant to help keep our home running smoothly and provide flexible family support. With two working parents — one in medicine and one in tech with frequent travel — we’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic household and takes initiative with calm confidence, maturity, and care. This is a long-term role for someone who is reliable, thoughtful and enjoys spending time with kids. In addition to day to day tasks, there is opportunity to take ownership for larger organizational projects in the home.

Key Responsibilities

Household Management & Organization • Daily home reset and light housekeeping (tidying, kitchen reset) • Proactive organization of pantry, closets, kids’ clothing rotation, toy systems • Manage family laundry (wash/dry/fold) — including bedding/towels • Track & restock essentials (toiletries, groceries, kids’ supplies)

Meal Preparation & Errands • Prep 2–3 simple, healthy family dinners weekly (plant-forward, flexible with proteins) • Light lunch prep support (cut fruit, stock lunch items for next day) • Grocery shopping and pantry/fridge management • Errands: occasional household pickups

Family & Child Support • Transport children to after-school activities (Mondays & Wednesdays. Family car available to drive) • Occasional school pickups or backup coverage when dad travels • Engaging playtime with kids — especially arts/crafts, outdoor activities, garden fun • Evening babysitting 1–2x/month • Occasional overnight support when mom is on call (approx. 1x/month) or when parents travel

Seasonal / Special Projects • Garage organization, quarterly household maintenance coordination (e.g. HVAC filters, solar cleaning, garden care) • Light support with travel prep, packing systems, gift organization

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, approx. 10am–2pm core hours • Wednesdays must include 2:30–6:30pm for swimming transportation • Additional hours for evening/date nights (2–3 hrs) and occasional overnight coverage • Approx. 15–20 hrs/week — with flexibility on both sides

Ideal Candidate

• Warm, calm, proactive, and deeply reliable • Strong with young children (ages 3 and 6) — energetic and genuinely enjoys engaging with them • Exceptionally organized and anticipatory — spots needs before being asked • Communicative and professional — good judgment and discretion • Has reliable transportation and clean driving record (family car provided for duties)

Compensation & Structure • $35–40/hour, depending on experience • Open to W2 or 1099 depending on candidate preference

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
