The Opportunity

Job classification: A9000 - Pooled Wage Position

# of positions: 5 Hourly Rate: $30.00 Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.

SAIT’s Athletics & Recreation department is hiring part-time hourly Certified Athletic Therapists to support our AT offering to student-athletes. The Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)) is responsible for the prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play management of injuries and illnesses affecting varsity student-athletes. Working within an integrated high-performance sport environment, the Athletic Therapist collaborates with coaches, physicians, strength and conditioning staff, mental performance professionals, and student athletic therapists to support athlete health, safety, and performance. This role also includes the supervision, mentorship, scheduling, and development of student Athletic Therapists (student ATs) participating in clinical placements and varsity sport support roles.

How you'll contribute

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Therapy or relevant field
  • 1-2 years certified athletic therapy
  • 1-2 years working in a multi-sport environment
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
  • Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)) designation in good standing with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA)
  • Current First Responder Training
  • Current First Aid, CPR & AED Certification
  • Experience working in varsity, collegiate, or high-performance sport environments preferred
  • Experience supervising or mentoring students is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of concussion management, rehabilitation principles, and emergency care
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel with varsity teams as required
