ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Why this Role Matters

Are you ready to be part of an exciting new venture? The Queensland Government is supporting the Circular Economy through the Department of Trade, Employment and Training, Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative, and we are on the hunt for a Program Workforce Manager. We are on a mission to reduce textile waste in landfills, promote a circular economy, and raise awareness of the environmental impact of textiles through our retail Stores and Textile Recovery facility.

We are looking for a hands-on Program Workforce Manager with a passion for sustainability and social impact to support the end-to-end delivery of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work project, ensuring contractual, operational, financial and reporting requirements are achieved while providing effective day-to-day supervision and support to trainees.

About the Role

Based primarily within Salvos Stores and the Carole Park operational environment, the role supports the recruitment, onboarding, retention and development of trainees from targeted priority cohorts. The Skilling Queenslanders For Work Program Workforce Manager ensures trainees receive safe, structured and meaningful workplace learning experiences aligned to the Certificate I in Retail qualification and associated workplace competencies.

The role works collaboratively with training, employment, community and employer partners to reduce barriers to participation, support qualification completion and strengthen sustainable employment pathways, while championing The Salvation Army’s mission and values.

About You

  • 5+ years’ experience in a people leadership role.
  • You will possess excellent communication, hardware and software skills.
  • Employment Industry or Business Development background will be highly regarded.
  • Energetic and inclusive leader that engages and motivates the workforce.
  • High degree of commercial acumen and strong negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to get your hands dirty and work alongside your team.

What we offer

As a registered NFP we offer our eligible employees real and meaningful benefits such as;

  • NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefit ($2,650)
  • Health, fitness and financial discounts / benefits
  • Paid parental leave - 12 weeks
  • Staff store discount
  • Up to 8 weeks leave per year through our purchase leave scheme
  • Up to 5 days paid leave per year to ‘volunteer’ in a TSA program or activity
  • Purpose driven career with positive social and sustainable outcomes
  • Employee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling service
  • Opportunity for career development
  • An inclusive culture of dedicated, passionate and professional team members
  • Positively supporting and impacting the lives of others through your career contribution

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
