Performs basic/advanced therapeutic procedures. Accurately monitors/evaluates pertinent information from patient's charts, and computes/prepares medications using basic principles of metric system. Coordinates patient care needs with physicians/nursing staff. Transcribes/implements physician orders. Uses basic/advanced assessment skills/patient information to maintain awareness and coordinate patient care needs. Troubleshoots and takes steps to correct clinical problems; refers unusual circumstances to supervision.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education Requirement:
Graduate of a school for Respiratory Care.
Minimum Experience Requirement:
Prior experience preferred, but not required. Knowledge of acid/base/electrolyte relationships and implications of life threatening situations preferred, not required. Establishes patient ventilator settings using metric measurements/advanced principles of volume, flow, pressure, time relationships preferred, not required.
Minimum License Requirement:
BLS certification required. ACLS, NRP and PALS preferred. Appropriate NYS licensure. CRT - Certified by National Board for Respiratory Care. RRT - Registered by National Board for Respiratory Care.
