DEPARTMENT: Special Events and Finest Collective

REPORTS TO: Director, Special Event Operations

STATUS: Part-Time; Non-Exempt

San Diego Padres Commitment:

The San Diego Padres are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for our employees. We strive to create an environment for everyone by including perspectives from backgrounds that vary by race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status, and national origin.

If you are not sure you’re 100% qualified but are up for the challenge – we want you to apply. We believe skills are transferable and passion for our mission goes a long way.

San Diego Padres Petco Park Promise:

Our service values drive our behaviors to create the best experience for all of our guests who visit Petco Park. As a team member at Petco Park, we genuinely and passionately care about our guests, our ballpark and each other. We make meaningful and memorable connections that set us apart from other venues and experiences. Each position on our team actively lives out this nonnegotiable commitment every day to CARE, CONNECT, EXCEED.

Your role as a Special Events Crew:

You will be an essential part of the Special Events team, responsible for the execution of all non-baseball events at Petco Park, and all private events at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, and EVE. Your attention to detail and commitment to creating safe and memorable experiences will make a significant impact on the success of these events.

All the responsibilities we will trust you with:

  • Exemplifying our Petco Park Promise: CARE, CONNECT, EXCEED by proactively welcoming all guests to the ballpark and consistently striving to exceed all guests’ expectations
  • Participating in the set-up, execution and breakdown of various events at Petco Park including but not limited to corporate events, concerts, internal events, and community events
  • Participating in the set-up, execution and breakdown of various events at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, and EVE; sister venues managed by the Padres Special Events team
  • Communication with contracted vendors as necessary, during event set-up and breakdown

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most:

  • Being consistent, punctual, and having reliable attendance
  • Willingness to learn and embrace the fast-paced event environment
  • Maintaining a neat, professional appearance as outlined by the San Diego Padres organization
  • Willingness to obtain certification in specialized roles (ex. Forklift operator)
  • Being bi-lingual in English/Spanish is a plus but not necessary

You will be required to meet the following:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record (subject to review)
  • Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the event venues for prolonged periods of time during events; able to lift and transport up to 35 pounds
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Minimum of (10) shifts per month
  • This is a year-round position with specific requirements for full-venue events. You will be required to make yourself available for at least an 8-hour shift on dates designated as “All Hands-on Deck.” “All Hands-on Deck” dates are events requiring full staffing due to full venue concerts and events
  • As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check

Salary and Additional Compensation:

Per the California pay transparency law, the pay rate for this position is $21.14 per hour. Part- time non-union employees are subject to the San Diego Hospitality Minimum Wage Ordinance and rates will increase accordingly.

In addition to your hourly rate, the Padres offer PTO, employee discounts, appreciation, and recognition opportunities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
