This manager will combine strong accounting judgment with practical data and automation capabilities to improve processes, strengthen reporting, and support scalable, well-controlled solutions. Success requires the ability to balance detailed accounting execution, team management, clear communication, and participation in finance improvement initiatives.

How you will make contributions that matter...

  • Ownership of the integrity, governance and performance of the U.S. General Ledger function and related accounting processes.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for divisional and corporate leadership.
  • Review assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts; investigate unusual trends, aged items, reconciling differences, and significant budget or forecast variances.
  • Establish clear close calendars, ownership, review standards, escalation protocols, and measurable service levels; continuously reduce cycle time without weakening controls.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, audit-ready, and consistent with corporate policy and applicable accounting standards.

Technical Accounting & Policy

  • Research and analyze U.S. GAAP, IFRS, company policy, and relevant accounting literature for complex or non-routine transactions, escalating significant matters as appropriate.
  • Prepare and review concise technical accounting memoranda that document facts, authoritative guidance, judgments, conclusions, entries, disclosures, and control considerations.
  • Monitor new accounting standards and support implementation, training, process updates, and documentation.

Internal Controls, Audit & Compliance

  • Support a strong internal control environment by monitoring assigned controls, documentation standards, segregation of duties, approvals, and timely remediation of identified issues.
  • Coordinate external and internal audit requests, walkthroughs, testing, open-item tracking, and management responses; resolve issues with sustainable corrective actions.
  • Promote a controls-first mindset while balancing efficiency, materiality, and business practicality.
  • Assess accounting risks arising from process, system, organizational, or data changes and ensure controls are embedded in new solutions.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead workforce planning in functional area, including organizational design, succession planning, resource allocation, cross-training strategies, and capability development to achieve business objectives
  • Manage, coach, and develop assigned accounting team members through clear goals, timely feedback, recurring one-on-ones, performance reviews, and development plans.
  • Delegate effectively while maintaining appropriate review, accountability, and decision rights.
  • Build a collaborative culture centered on ownership, inclusion, curiosity, continuous learning, and constructive challenge of the status quo.

Process Improvement, Automation & Analytics

  • Identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements that reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, improve data quality, and accelerate reporting.
  • Contribute to finance improvement and automation initiatives involving SAP, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, workflow tools, and other approved technologies.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, exception reports, and automated validations that support assigned close, reconciliation, journal entry, balance sheet, and operating expense processes.
  • Partner with IT and data teams on requirements, testing, access, change management, data governance, and adoption of new solutions.
  • Apply structured problem-solving, root-cause analysis, process mapping, and measurable benefit tracking to improvement initiatives.

Business Partnership & Special Projects

  • Partner across Finance and Operations to explain results, identify business drivers, and translate accounting implications into clear actions and decisions.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, including system implementations, process redesign, integrations, and other finance initiatives.
  • Summarize complex accounting issues clearly for leadership, including key risks, findings, recommendations, and matters requiring escalation.
  • Execute special projects and additional responsibilities assigned by management.

You are best suited for the role if you have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; a related finance degree may be considered when accompanied by substantial accounting coursework and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience supervising or developing accounting staff and supporting financial close and reporting.
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred; 2 to 5 years with a public accounting firm is ideal.
  • Active CPA license strongly preferred; CPA candidate, CMA, or equivalent professional credential may be considered.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and IFRS, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to research complex accounting issues, form well-supported conclusions, and prepare clear accounting memoranda.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and demonstrated experience using technology to improve accounting processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
