We are seeking a skilled and driven Intern – Procurement Automation & Digital Supply Chain to join our expanding team and contribute to the success of our eVTOL program.

About the role:

This is not a conventional procurement internship. We are looking for an AI-native builder who wants to work at the intersection of procurement, supply chain, software and artificial intelligence. Alongside supporting day-to-day procurement activities for Sarla Aviation's aircraft programmes, you will be expected to independently build, automate and continuously improve digital tools for the procurement function, including contributing significantly to Sarla's evolving in-house Procurement / ERP platform. You should be capable of taking a procurement problem, understanding the workflow, rapidly prototyping a solution and developing a usable internal tool with minimal support from our in-house AI/software team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support supplier identification, RFQs, quotation collection, techno-commercial comparisons, purchase orders, order tracking and delivery follow-ups across Sarla's aircraft programmes.
  • Maintain structured supplier, component, quotation, pricing, lead-time, PO and delivery data for real-time programme visibility.
  • Use AI as a core part of everyday procurement work for supplier research, data analysis, quotation comparison, documentation, information extraction, reporting and procurement intelligence.
  • Help design and independently develop Sarla's in-house Procurement / ERP tools, customised around how Sarla operates rather than simply replicating a conventional off-the-shelf ERP.
  • Digitise and automate the procurement lifecycle: PR → RFQ → Supplier Discovery → Quotation Comparison → Negotiation → Supplier Selection → PO → Delivery Tracking → GRN → Invoice / Payment Tracking.
  • Translate real procurement problems and user requirements into working digital workflows, dashboards, databases, automations and internal applications.
  • Build AI-assisted tools for supplier discovery, RFQ generation, quotation comparison, should-cost analysis, supplier evaluation, lead-time tracking and procurement reporting.
  • Explore and implement AI agents and workflow automation for repetitive procurement activities and manual follow-ups.
  • Develop dashboards providing real-time visibility into procurement status, supplier performance, delivery risks, costs, pending actions and programme dependencies.
  • Integrate information across procurement, engineering BOMs, supplier databases, finance and programme requirements wherever practical.
  • Rapidly prototype ideas, test them with actual users, collect feedback and continuously improve the tools.
  • Document workflows, system logic and data structures so solutions can scale into production-grade internal systems.
  • Work with Sarla's in-house AI/software team primarily for architecture guidance, integration and scaling, rather than depending on them for day-to-day development.
  • Continuously explore emerging AI, automation and software tools that can make Sarla's procurement organisation faster, smarter and more scalable.

Qualifications:

  • B.E./B.Tech or equivalent in Computer Science, AI/Data Science, Mechanical, Aerospace, Automobile, Production, Industrial Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Final-year students and recent graduates with strong demonstrated technical capability are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interest in procurement, supply chain, manufacturing and aerospace; prior professional procurement experience is not mandatory.
  • Genuinely AI-native and comfortable using modern LLMs and AI tools as part of how you research, analyse, solve problems and build.
  • Ability to independently build functional internal tools using some combination of Python, APIs, databases, AI coding environments, LLM integrations, low-code/no-code platforms or similar technologies.
  • Ability to understand a business/process problem, break it into logical steps and turn it into a usable digital solution with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical ability and comfort working with structured and unstructured data.
  • High ownership mindset with the ability to take a loosely defined problem from idea → prototype → working solution.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience building an application, internal tool, automation, AI agent, dashboard or workflow through personal, academic, internship or hackathon projects.
  • Exposure to LLM APIs, agentic workflows, RAG, structured databases, Python-based automation or API integrations.
  • Experience with AI-assisted coding and rapid application-development environments.
  • Understanding of ERP concepts, procurement workflows, supply-chain systems or PLM is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with BOMs, engineering drawings, manufacturing processes or aerospace/automotive components is beneficial.
  • Experience working with spreadsheets and structured datasets and converting manual processes into automated workflows.
  • Comfortable experimenting, failing quickly, iterating and learning independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Languages: English (mandatory), any preferred language.
