Job Description

Save More Food Market is looking for friendly, dependable, and hardworking Deli Associates to join our team!

As a Deli Associate, you'll play an important role in providing our customers with fresh, high-quality foods and exceptional customer service. This position involves preparing food, slicing meats and cheeses, maintaining attractive displays, and ensuring our Deli Department operates safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of cleanliness.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with food, has a positive attitude, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, helpful customer service while assisting customers with deli orders and product selections.
  • Slice, weigh, package, and label deli meats, cheeses, and other products accurately.
  • Prepare fresh foods, including salads, sandwiches, hot foods, and other deli offerings.
  • Operate deli equipment, including slicers, ovens, fryers, and food preparation equipment, following proper safety procedures.
  • Stock, rotate, and replenish deli cases, hot food displays, and grab-and-go merchandise.
  • Monitor product freshness, quality, and temperatures to ensure food safety standards are maintained.
  • Follow recipes, portion guidelines, and proper food handling procedures.
  • Minimize product waste and shrink through proper preparation, rotation, and inventory management.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, food preparation surfaces, displays, and work areas.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing products in refrigerated and frozen storage areas.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company operating procedures.
  • Assist with opening and closing department responsibilities.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to complete daily tasks and maintain department standards.

Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Previous deli, food service, restaurant, or grocery experience preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person!
  • Friendly, positive attitude and strong customer service skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn food preparation techniques, recipes, and proper food safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and product quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely operate deli equipment following training.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Comfortable working around hot equipment and in refrigerated or freezer areas.
  • Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
