The posting

At Scalapay, we’re shaping a culture with high standards, independent and critical thought, innovation, ownership, and continuous learning. We operate in a fast-moving, tech-driven environment, and we’re looking for people who thrive in change, think boldly, and take initiative.

If you’re ready to put your potential to the test in a hiring process designed to spotlight exceptional talent, this is your chance to stand out and grow with one of Europe’s most ambitious fintech teams.

#MakeItHappen #PlayAsATeam #StayCurious #FocusOnCustomer.

THE MISSION:

As a Risk Analyst, you will be the dedicated risk owner for Scalapay's subscription products. This is a high-impact role where you design the decisioning logic behind a growing product line, take it live in our rules engine, and own its performance from there.

You will work as the risk counterpart to the Subscription team, turning product ambitions into risk requirements, and you will contribute to the fraud prevention work that protects the whole portfolio.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Subscription Risk Ownership

  • Own the risk framework for subscription products end to end: eligibility criteria, decisioning logic, and the data and signals behind them.
  • Partner with the Subscription team as their single point of contact on risk, flagging exposure early and shaping product decisions before they ship.
  • Design the risk layer for new launches rather than inheriting it, working alongside product, engineering and compliance from the start.

Decisioning & Performance Monitoring

  • Implement and maintain rules in our decisioning engine, with clear documentation and measurable expected impact.
  • Build the reporting that shows how approval rates, losses and fraud are trending across your product area, and act on what it tells you.
  • Run post-implementation analysis on every significant change: what we expected, what happened, what we do next.

Fraud Prevention & Detection

  • Contribute to fraud monitoring, investigation and intervention across the portfolio, including during volume peaks.
  • Investigate emerging fraud patterns and translate them into detection logic and rule changes.
  • Work with our external fraud and identity data providers to get the most out of the signals we buy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with data, engineering, finance, compliance, legal and customer support to get decisions shipped, documented and understood.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both product stakeholders and risk leadership.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Holder of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years in risk, fraud, credit decisioning, payments or a comparable analytical role, preferably in fintech, BNPL or consumer lending.
  • Proficiency in SQL and comfort working independently in a data warehouse; Python is a plus.
  • Sound judgement: you can make a decision with incomplete data, and the discipline to measure it afterwards.
  • Genuine interest in both credit and fraud rather than a strong preference for one.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain a risk decision to a product manager and to a compliance reviewer alike.
  • High attention to detail and strong ownership of deliverables.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal (B2-C1). Italian is a plus.

Nice to have: exposure to card, subscription or account-based products; experience with a rules or decision engine in production; familiarity with external fraud and identity data providers.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN SCALAPAY:

  • Attractive packages based on skills and experience — the salary band we have for this position is of 32'000– 44'000 € (Gross Annual Salary)
  • International environment with significant challenges to be met every day
  • Lots of opportunities to work with a team of industry tech leaders who are focused on delivering products that offer exceptional user experiences
  • Personalised support to accelerate your professional growth and take ownership of the products you deliver: we want to help you grow!
  • Latest technologies and being encouraged to bring your flair to the role.

OUR HIRING PROCESS:

  • An initial chat with our Talent team
  • The first interview with the Hiring Manager to dive deep into your experiences and better understand your motivation
  • A case study to test your hard skills
  • A final chat with Simone, our CEO

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
